For multilingual international advertising, Microsoft Advertising is the clearest documented alternative when you want another search channel and a way to import supported Google Ads campaign structures. LinkedIn Ads is a more specialized option for business audiences where professional targeting matters. Neither replaces the work of checking local intent, creative and landing pages.
A platform change may not be necessary: Google documents a Search language-targeting change beginning in September 2026 and an AI campaign localisation beta for eligible Search campaigns. These capabilities affect how you plan multilingual execution, but they do not establish translation quality or campaign performance.

Which alternative fits your campaign?
| Option | Best fit | What it does for multilingual campaigns | Key qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Advertising | Testing additional search reach or reusing supported campaign structures | Microsoft says its import tools accept Google Ads, Meta Ads and Pinterest Ads campaigns. It also describes search and audience advertising, conversion goals and remarketing audiences. | Import is a setup aid, not proof that every setting or localized asset transfers unchanged. Check market availability and review the imported campaign. |
| LinkedIn Ads | B2B campaigns where professional audience criteria are important | Ad-set language selection helps define who can be matched; LinkedIn supports 35 profile languages. | Language selection is not translation, and targeting rules differ by selected language and ad format. |
| Google Ads with its documented localization features | Teams that want to keep Search campaigns in Google while adapting eligible campaigns | Google documents a Search language-targeting change from September 2026 and a beta tool that creates localized Search campaigns. | The beta has eligibility and language limits. Its capabilities do not establish local keyword fit or translation quality. |
The available documentation does not establish comparable reach, prices or performance across these options. Choose based on audience intent, supported markets, localization workflow, campaign reuse, measurement and budget controls—not an assumed universal winner.

Microsoft’s product overview says advertisers can import campaigns from Google Ads, Meta Ads and Pinterest Ads. It also describes search and audience advertising, Universal Event Tracking for conversion goals, and remarketing audiences. That makes Microsoft a practical channel to shortlist for incremental search reach or for reducing setup effort when campaign import is useful.

Before enabling an imported campaign, check its keywords, locations, languages, creative, tracking and budgets. The import documentation does not establish that all settings or localized assets will carry over unchanged, nor that Microsoft will deliver Google-equivalent volume or outperform Google in any country.
Microsoft’s feature comparison can help identify which campaign-management and account functions to verify. It is a vendor-published comparison, and its availability column matters: some features are marked global while others are limited to specific markets. It also describes LinkedIn profile targeting in Microsoft Advertising, including industry, company and job-function dimensions, with market limits. Confirm that the relevant feature is available in each target market before basing a plan on it.

LinkedIn Ads: language-aware B2B audience targeting
LinkedIn is a better fit when professional criteria—such as role, industry or company—are central to the campaign. Its language control determines audience matching; it does not translate ads, keywords or landing pages. LinkedIn’s language guidance says advertisers can select from 35 profile languages for ad sets, and that Chinese is not supported for ad sets.

- With English selected, LinkedIn targets member accounts in the chosen location regardless of profile language, except for Sponsored Messaging.
- With a non-English language selected, members must meet the other audience criteria and the selected language condition.
- For Sponsored Messaging, any selected language is matched against the audience.
LinkedIn recommends matching the ad language to the landing-page language. Once an ad set has been created and launched, its language cannot be changed; a different language requires a new ad set. If language and other criteria make an audience too narrow, LinkedIn suggests relaxing other criteria or running a separate English ad set in the relevant geography. Treat this as audience planning, not as a way to capture search demand.

When staying in Google Ads may be enough
Search language targeting from September 2026
Google’s language-targeting documentation says that beginning in September 2026, Search campaigns match ads based on their language and campaign-level language targeting is removed for Search. For Performance Max, campaign language settings no longer apply to Search Network placements, but continue to apply to YouTube, Display, Discover and Gmail. Shopping ads within Performance Max are unaffected by language settings. These changes mean that a previous campaign-level language selection should not be assumed to control Search matching after the change.
AI campaign localisation beta for eligible Search campaigns
Google’s AI campaign localisation help page describes a beta for eligible Search campaigns with English (US) source campaigns. It lists these ten target-language variants:
- Dutch
- French and French (Canada)
- German
- Italian
- Polish
- Portuguese (Brazil) and Portuguese (Portugal/European)
- Spanish (Castilian/Spain) and Spanish (Latin American and Caribbean)
The tool can translate text assets and targeting, process text overlays in images, and provide a landing-page translation snippet or URL-updating workflow. It creates a separate campaign and leaves the original unchanged. These are documented capabilities, not evidence that machine-assisted localization will preserve the intended meaning or perform well in a market; review keywords, ad meaning and landing pages before launch.

Eligibility is limited by source-campaign status, size and supported-language assets, and beta access is not guaranteed for every account. Google also says copied bids and budgets remain exactly as in the original campaign, with no currency conversion. A numeric budget copied into a campaign intended for another currency therefore needs review before launch.

How to choose and launch across markets
- Start with audience intent. Use search advertising when you need to reach people expressing search demand; consider LinkedIn when professional audience criteria are essential. The available platform documentation does not provide comparable reach or performance data.
- Verify the exact market-feature-language combination. Check that the country, campaign type, language and targeting feature are available together in the account. Microsoft’s feature comparison notes market-specific availability; LinkedIn’s language controls also have defined limits.
- Choose a localization workflow. Decide whether the platform helps localize assets or only narrows audience matching. In either case, have someone check local keyword intent, ad meaning and landing-page language and fit.
- Audit reuse and measurement. For an imported Microsoft campaign, inspect what transferred and validate conversion tracking, locations, creative and other settings. Compare multi-account handling, reporting, conversion measurement, bidding and campaign types with your team’s workflow.
- Recheck budgets and bids. Confirm amounts and currency for each market. Google’s documented localization beta does not convert copied budget or bid values.
- Test market fit rather than assuming parity. A campaign structure or feature available in one country does not prove equivalent volume or results in another. Plan a market-specific review before scaling.
