It covers architecture, memory, deployment, guardrails, authentication, evaluation and related engineering work. These are development-time instructions for a coding assistant—not skills that an ADK application automatically loads when it runs.
What the Agentic Engineering Skills repository contains
The repository accompanies Khissamiyev’s book, Agentic Engineering: Building Production-Grade Multi-Agent Systems with Google ADK on GCP, but the repository says the book and its example project are not required to use the skills. Each skill is a folder containing instructions, references and, where useful, helper scripts. The aim is to help a coding agent apply engineering practices to an existing project.

The repository documents thirteen skills: two broad entry points and eleven topic specialists.
adk-engineeris the starting point when you know what you want to build or change but are unsure which specialist fits. It inspects the project and selects one or more specialists.adk-system-designerhelps plan system-wide requirements and trade-offs before implementation.- The eleven specialists address workflow design, reliable API tool calls, operational guardrails, Google Cloud deployment, optimization, frontend integration, memory architecture, agent evaluation, sensitive-data protection, tool authentication and secrets, and controlled SQL analytics.
The repository frames the work around practical failure cases: preventing duplicate refunds after timeouts, enforcing ownership of conversations, accounting for usage across turns, evaluating behavior as well as generated text, and handling sensitive data across prompts, tools and responses. Those examples describe the skills’ intended concerns; using a skill does not by itself guarantee a safe or correct implementation.

Install the skills in a coding-agent project
The repository’s documented installation uses the Skills CLI from your project directory. Its current prerequisites are Git, Node.js 22.20 or later with npm, and a coding agent that supports skills. It offers client selection for Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity and Gemini CLI; compatibility and account-access requirements depend on the client and can change.
- Open a terminal in the project directory. Confirm Git and the required Node.js/npm setup are available.
- Run the repository’s installation command:
npx skills@latest add RuslanKhis/agentic-engineering-skills --skill '*' - Select a supported coding-agent client when prompted, then open or restart its session if needed so it can recognize the installed skills.
- Invoke a skill in the coding-agent session. Start with
adk-engineerif you want it to route the task, or name a specialist when you know the topic. Describe the desired change and ask the agent to explain its plan. - Review the work. Check the proposed approach, code changes and verification steps against your project’s requirements before accepting or deploying anything.
The repository says the installer downloads skill files; it does not install ADK in your application or require Google Cloud credentials just to install the skills. Its documentation also includes a two-minute-twenty-second walkthrough for adding a streaming frontend and a remembered language preference, with local runnable code and checks. That is a walkthrough described by the project, not an independent evaluation of the skills.

How these differ from Google’s ADK coding resources
Google’s Code with AI guide presents two ways to use coding assistance with ADK: install development skills through Agents CLI, or connect a coding tool to ADK documentation through an MCP server. The documented Agents CLI setup command is uvx google-agents-cli setup. Google’s official skill topics include development lifecycle and coding guidance, scaffolding, evaluation, deployment to Agent Runtime, Cloud Run or GKE, Gemini Enterprise publishing, tracing and logging integrations, and a Python API reference.

The Agentic Engineering Skills author acknowledges shared ground in scaffolding, recipes, evaluation, deployment and observability. The author characterizes this repository as more focused on application-level decisions and failure cases, without requiring the Agents CLI lifecycle. Treat that as the project author’s description, not as the result of a published head-to-head assessment.
For developers asking, “How is it different from official Google skills?”, the practical answer is that the two collections offer overlapping development assistance with different organization and emphasis. You can inspect both and choose the instructions that fit your workflow; neither description establishes that one universally produces better results.
Development-time coding skills are not ADK runtime skills
The repository’s skills guide a coding assistant while you work on a developer project. They do not automatically become part of your application’s ADK agent or affect its behavior after deployment.

ADK separately documents a built-in Skills feature for agents. Google labels that feature experimental. The documentation lists support beginning at Python v1.25.0, TypeScript v0.6.1, Go v1.2.0 and Kotlin v0.1.0. In that runtime feature, a SkillToolset makes skills available to an ADK agent; skills can be defined in code or loaded from a filesystem.
Google describes an ADK skill as a “self-contained unit of functionality that an ADK agent can use to perform a specific task.” Its documented structure uses progressive disclosure: discovery metadata in frontmatter, instructions loaded when the skill is triggered, and references, assets or scripts available as resources. The official Google Developers tutorial recommends keeping small skills inline and using files when references or reuse are useful. It also demonstrates external skill imports and a pattern in which an agent creates skill definitions; generated files should be reviewed before deployment because they affect agent behavior.
Best Value
These are related ideas but different execution contexts: one set informs a coding agent during development; the other is an experimental ADK capability for skills an application agent can use at runtime.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choosing a deployment specialist for Google Cloud
The repository includes a deployment specialist intended to compare Cloud Run, Agent Runtime and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), and help prepare runtime identity, configuration, health checks and verification. Google documents ADK as an open-source framework available in Python, TypeScript, Go and Java, with local development and deployment options that include those services.
There is no universal hosting winner established by the project documentation. A useful comparison depends on your actual operating constraints:
- Infrastructure control and operations: decide how much platform configuration and day-to-day operation your team wants to own.
- Existing platform fit: account for the deployment and observability practices already used by your organization.
- Identity and configuration: plan how the workload receives its permissions and configuration in the target environment.
- Startup and health checks: make sure readiness behavior matches the chosen runtime and deployment process.
- Scaling and concurrency: assess the workload’s expected traffic and parallel work rather than selecting a service by name alone.
- Verification: define how you will confirm a deployment works, including the application’s integrations and runtime identity.
The linked project and Google documentation establish these options, not a current price comparison or a recommendation for every workload. Use the specialist to surface trade-offs, then validate its proposal against your team’s requirements and the current service documentation.
What to check before relying on a skill
The repository is an open-source aid, not a production-readiness guarantee. Its README, installation instructions, skill catalog and client integrations may change. Check the current repository README before installing, then try a relevant skill on an existing project and review what it proposes, what it gets wrong and what still needs manual correction. The original post explicitly invites that kind of feedback; its author’s statement that examples were tested is not an independent, reproducible evaluation.
