Golden Corral’s buffet at 19120 E. Valley View Parkway in Independence, Missouri, was reported to be closing, with Sunday, October 4, 2026, named as its last day. The Kansas City Star reported that the restaurant had operated for about 15 years. Because that date is now past, the available reporting establishes the planned closing date, not whether the restaurant ultimately closed; verify its current status before making a trip.
What was reported about the Independence restaurant?
The Kansas City Star reported on October 2, 2026, that Golden Corral’s Independence buffet was winding down and scheduled to close after about 15 years. The report cited confirmation from two managers and described the restaurant’s tenure as based on property records and newspaper archives. It did not provide an exact opening date or a reason for the closure. The Star reportedly sought comment from Golden Corral corporate but received no response. The syndicated reproduction of the Star report carries reporter Jenna Thompson’s credit; it is not separate confirmation from Golden Corral.

The stated last day was Sunday, October 4, 2026. Since that date has passed, the report alone cannot confirm whether the restaurant closed as planned. The chain’s official directory listed Independence despite the reported impending closure, so a directory listing should not be treated as confirmation that the location remains open.
