In the other match, the Western Bulldogs defeated St Kilda 3.13 (31) to 0.1 (1), with a late Saints goal preventing a scoreless result.
Gold Coast broke away from Brisbane in the final quarter
The Suns’ 20-point win at Brighton Homes Arena came after a tight three quarters. Brisbane’s Lily Postlethwaite and Orla O’Dwyer scored early goals to put the Lions ten points ahead, and Brisbane kicked the only goal of the second quarter to lead by two points at halftime.
Gold Coast co-captain Lucy Single produced one of the match’s standout moments, fending off Sophie Conway before curving a goal in from near the boundary. The Suns had eight more inside 50s in the third quarter, but Conway kicked the term’s only goal from a set shot, leaving Brisbane two points ahead at three-quarter time.
The decisive surge came in the last quarter. Havana Harris marked and converted a set shot, then evaded a defender and kicked her second goal on the run from about 40 metres. Charlie Rowbottom also scored as Gold Coast put on 22 unanswered points.

Harris’s two goals came after she had registered one behind across the first three quarters. The AAP report noted that she had signed a contract extension through 2029 earlier that week. Single’s boundary-side goal was described by the reporter as a possible goal-of-the-season contender, not as an award result.
