There is no universal winner between GoDaddy and SiteGround. For WordPress, SiteGround’s listed plans make site limits, included tools, and renewal prices easy to compare. GoDaddy emphasizes broad application support, daily backups, bandwidth, and the convenience of its wider domain and business-services ecosystem. Compare the renewal bill and the specific features your site needs—not just the introductory offer.
GoDaddy vs SiteGround at a glance
| What matters | SiteGround | GoDaddy |
|---|---|---|
| Published offer | US-facing WordPress plans displayed introductory and renewal rates, prepaid for 12 months. | The reviewed shared-hosting page was displayed in a non-US locale, so its prices are not a valid USD comparison. |
| Site capacity | StartUp lists one website and 10 GB storage; GrowBig lists unlimited websites and 50 GB; GoGeek lists unlimited websites and 100 GB. | Confirm the site and resource limits for the specific plan at checkout; the reviewed page does not establish an equivalent plan-by-plan comparison. |
| WordPress tools | Plans list migration, managed updates, caching and security features; the page also describes staging and developer tools. | Supports WordPress as well as Node.js, AI-built sites, and custom apps, according to its shared-hosting page. |
| Backups and infrastructure claims | The provider says full website backups run daily and are stored across multiple data centers. | The provider lists automatic daily backups, unmetered bandwidth, a 99.9% uptime guarantee, and data centers in North America and Europe. |
| Best starting point | Compare if you want a WordPress-focused bundle and clearly listed capacity and renewal prices. | Compare if you need broader app support or value managing hosting alongside domains and other business services. |

SiteGround vs GoDaddy pricing: what happens after the offer?
The SiteGround US-facing WordPress plan page displayed the following monthly prices, each prepaid for 12 months. They are a dated page snapshot, not a guaranteed checkout quote: rates, promotions, taxes, billing terms, and availability can vary by location and change over time.
| SiteGround plan | Displayed introductory rate | Displayed renewal rate | Listed capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| StartUp | $2.99/month, prepaid for 12 months | $17.99/month | One website; 10 GB storage |
| GrowBig | $4.99/month, prepaid for 12 months | $29.99/month | Unlimited websites; 50 GB storage |
| GoGeek | $7.99/month, prepaid for 12 months | $44.99/month | Unlimited websites; 100 GB storage |
For GoDaddy, use the price and billing term shown for your location and the exact plan you are considering. The reviewed page’s non-US locale does not support a reliable USD comparison against SiteGround’s displayed US prices. Before choosing, compare the full renewal charge and any separately billed services, rather than treating a promotional rate as the long-term cost.

What SiteGround includes for WordPress
SiteGround’s listed WordPress bundles include SSL, CDN, backups, email, caching, security features, WordPress migration, and managed updates. Capacity and some tools differ by tier: StartUp lists one site and 10 GB, GrowBig lists unlimited sites and 50 GB, and GoGeek lists unlimited sites and 100 GB. GrowBig and higher also list on-demand backups.
The provider describes one-click WordPress staging and professional tools including WP-CLI, SSH, Git integration, and PHP version control. Its plans page also lists an AI Agent for WordPress, access to multiple language models, and monthly AI tokens. These features may matter for a particular workflow, but they do not replace checking storage, site limits, renewal cost, or the tools you actually need.
Rank #2
SiteGround’s comparison information describes a free website migration service for one website on GrowBig and higher, as well as a free WordPress migration plugin. Confirm which route and limits apply to your site and selected plan on the current plan page and migration information.

GoDaddy’s shared-hosting page lists automatic daily backups, unmetered bandwidth, SSL, CDN, firewall, and site-optimization tools. It also lists a 99.9% uptime guarantee and data centers in North America and Europe. These are GoDaddy’s own offer descriptions; they do not establish how GoDaddy performs against SiteGround in an independent test.
Rank #3
The page describes support for WordPress, Node.js, AI-built sites, and custom apps. If you are deploying something beyond a conventional WordPress site, check the exact plan’s supported environment and resource limits before buying. GoDaddy’s wider domain and business-services ecosystem may also be convenient if you already manage those services in one account. Its 2025 annual report says the company serves more than 20 million customers globally; that company-reported figure is context about its scale, not a measure of hosting quality.
GoDaddy’s page presents a 30-day money-back guarantee subject to terms. Check eligibility and plan-specific conditions before relying on it.

Which host should you choose?
Choose SiteGround as the stronger candidate if…
- You are choosing hosting primarily for WordPress and want a bundle that lists migration, managed updates, caching, security, backups, email, SSL, and CDN.
- You can select a tier based on its stated site count and storage, and have checked its renewal rate against your budget.
- You need WordPress staging or tools such as WP-CLI, SSH, Git integration, or PHP version control.
Choose GoDaddy as the stronger candidate if…
- You need to evaluate support for an application such as Node.js or a custom app, rather than WordPress alone.
- You value having hosting alongside domain registration and other business services in one account.
- The exact plan and checkout quote meet your needs for backups, bandwidth, storage, and other included services.
If you are a beginner with one small WordPress site
Compare SiteGround StartUp’s one-site, 10 GB allowance and displayed renewal price with a GoDaddy plan that meets the same needs. Check whether the GoDaddy quote includes the services you would otherwise need to add, such as email, SSL, backups, or migration. Do not compare an introductory price from one provider with a renewal price from the other.

SiteGround’s listed StartUp limit is one website, while GrowBig and GoGeek list unlimited websites; their storage allowances differ. Confirm how the provider defines site capacity and whether the storage and plan resources are sufficient for your sites before moving or signing up.
Moving a WordPress site from GoDaddy to SiteGround
You can move hosting without necessarily moving your domain registration. The comparison information describes pointing a GoDaddy-registered domain to SiteGround by changing DNS nameservers, subject to the domain’s account settings. Migration and DNS changes are separate steps: moving files and the database does not, by itself, switch visitors to the new host.
- Check the destination plan and migration scope. Confirm storage, site allowance, and whether the migration service or plugin covers your site’s setup.
- Make a recoverable backup. Keep a copy of the site files and database before changing hosting or DNS. A provider’s routine backup feature is not a substitute for confirming you have a usable copy.
- Transfer and verify the site. Use the applicable migration route, then check pages, media, forms, logins, and any plugins or integrations on the new hosting account before changing DNS.
- Point the domain to the new hosting. If keeping the domain at GoDaddy, follow the destination host’s current nameserver instructions and update DNS in the domain account. Allow for DNS propagation; avoid cancelling the old hosting until the new site is working and mail or other domain services are accounted for.
For the exact migration options, consult SiteGround’s migration guidance and the instructions for the plan you choose.
Is either host faster or more reliable?
The available provider pages do not establish an independent head-to-head speed or reliability winner. SiteGround describes caching, CDN, and its infrastructure features; GoDaddy lists an uptime guarantee and other hosting features. Those descriptions are useful for understanding each offer, but they are not comparable benchmark results. Choose based on plan terms and operational fit unless you have a current, independent test that measures the plans and conditions relevant to your site.
