Choose BigCommerce if your business is store-first and needs ecommerce-focused capabilities such as multiple storefronts or native B2B features. That is a product-fit recommendation based on each company’s published feature descriptions—not a hands-on usability or performance test.
Start with what the site needs to do
The key distinction is whether selling is one part of a broader business website or the central job of the platform. GoDaddy’s Website Builder combines general site and marketing tools with appointments and commerce features. BigCommerce is positioned as an ecommerce platform, with its published feature set emphasizing store operations, including multi-storefront and B2B capabilities.

| Decision area | GoDaddy | BigCommerce |
|---|---|---|
| Primary purpose | General website builder with options for selling and appointments. | Ecommerce platform focused on store operations. |
| Website and marketing | Its builder page describes templates, mobile editing, contact forms and marketing features, alongside selling tools. | Its product materials emphasize commerce capabilities and integrations. |
| Store operations | Published features include payments, discounts, shipping and tax settings, abandoned-cart recovery, product reviews and marketplace selling. | Plan and product materials describe sales-volume thresholds, payment-provider terms, POS integrations and multi-storefront options. |
| Multiple storefronts | The reviewed builder materials describe marketplace syncing, not an equivalent multi-storefront model. | Multi-storefront is an explicit capability; self-serve plans list additional monthly charges and storefront caps. |
| B2B | The reviewed builder materials do not establish equivalent native B2B features. | The product page explicitly describes native B2B capabilities. |
| What can affect cost | Country, billing terms and plan affect the offer; card processing is separate from the online-store transaction fee. | Sales volume, payment-provider choice, plan thresholds and additional storefronts can affect the total. |
These are vendor-described capabilities, not independently verified feature tests. Check the current plan details for your location and requirements before committing.
Published prices and fees
The following figures were displayed on the vendors’ official pages retrieved on October 7, 2026. They are US-dollar examples, not guaranteed future prices; check the linked pages for current terms. The plans are not directly equivalent: GoDaddy’s cited page is for Website Builder, while BigCommerce prices its ecommerce plans with sales-volume and payment-provider mechanics.
| Vendor and plan | Displayed price | Important terms shown |
|---|---|---|
| GoDaddy Website Builder Basic (US) | $9.99/month | Annual-plan savings were displayed; availability, billing and discounts can vary by location and checkout terms. GoDaddy plan page |
| GoDaddy Website Builder Commerce (US) | $20.99/month | The displayed Commerce details state a 0% online-store transaction fee and a separate ecommerce card-processing fee of 2.7% + $0.30. Confirm current processor and checkout terms for your location. GoDaddy plan page |
| BigCommerce Core | $29/month billed annually; $39/month at the displayed monthly list price | The pricing page describes a $30,000 trailing-12-month GMV threshold. BigCommerce pricing |
| BigCommerce Growth | $79/month billed annually; $105/month at the displayed monthly list price | The pricing page describes a $100,000 GMV threshold. BigCommerce pricing |
| BigCommerce Scale | $299/month billed annually; $399/month at the displayed monthly list price | The pricing page describes a $33,333/month threshold with an overage rate. BigCommerce pricing |
| BigCommerce Performance | Custom-priced, starting at $1,499/month billed annually | See the current pricing page for applicable terms. BigCommerce pricing |
BigCommerce’s pricing page lists additional self-serve storefronts at $30/month for up to three on Core, $50/month for up to five on Growth and $100/month for up to eight on Scale. Its pricing update says changes began June 1, 2026, including new plan names and GMV thresholds, a fee for orders processed through Open Payment Providers on self-serve plans, and in-account plan management. Read the current plan table and pricing update for exact threshold calculations and provider-fee rules; these terms can change.
Do not compare monthly headlines alone. Estimate your own total using your location, billing choice, expected sales, payment provider, required plan features and—in BigCommerce’s case—any added storefronts. GoDaddy’s card-processing fee and online-store transaction fee are separate charges, so a 0% transaction fee does not mean card processing is free.
Which platform fits your business?
Choose GoDaddy as your first comparison for a service or brochure-style site
If the main need is a local-business site, portfolio or general online presence—with appointments or a modest catalog as supporting features—GoDaddy is a natural place to start comparing. Its published builder features bring website tools, appointments and selling options together. Verify the required selling functions and plan availability for your country.

Choose BigCommerce as your first comparison for a store-first operation
If ecommerce is central and you expect to run several branded, regional or customer-specific storefronts, BigCommerce is the more directly relevant starting point: its product materials explicitly describe multi-storefront support and native B2B features. Include the applicable plan threshold and extra storefront cost in your estimate.
Write down requirements before choosing
If the fit is unclear, list the capabilities the business actually needs, then compare the plans that include them. Useful requirements to settle are:
Rank #4
- Appointment booking and general website or marketing tools.
- Catalog size and selling needs, including discounts, shipping, tax, cart recovery and reviews.
- Marketplace or POS channels.
- Whether you need multiple storefronts or B2B pricing and workflows.
- Your likely annual sales, payment provider, country and preferred billing term.
One regional detail should not be generalized: GoDaddy’s UK store page retrieved in 2026 states a limit of up to 5,000 products. That is a vendor-published UK-page limit, not a guarantee for other regions or plans. See the UK online-store page if that limit is relevant to your operation.

What this comparison can—and cannot—establish
The cited feature lists, prices and plan mechanics come from the companies’ own product and pricing pages. They support a practical distinction between a broader site builder with selling options and an ecommerce-focused platform, but they do not establish which product is easier to use, faster, converts better or provides better support. No comparable independent evidence or hands-on test is available here for those questions.
