How well does God of War Ragnarök run on PC?
PlayStation’s August 8, 2024 PC specifications give average frame-rate targets at native resolution with no upscaling. They are publisher targets, not a guarantee of sustained performance in every scene or on every system. Each tier lists Windows 10 64-bit and a 190 GB SSD.

These figures are useful for judging whether a PC is in the right class for a target, but they do not compare equivalent settings against PS5. Check the game’s current requirements and your actual components before buying; the published tier table is dated 2024.

What PC-specific display and graphics options matter?
The PC version supports unlocked frame rates, compatible 4K output, 21:9 ultrawide and 32:9 super-ultrawide displays, and upscaling technologies from NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel. PlayStation’s announcement lists DLSS 3.7, FSR 3.1, and XeSS 1.3, with frame generation where supported by the technology. These options depend on compatible hardware and displays; their presence does not guarantee a particular image quality or frame rate.
Those choices are most valuable if you already have the relevant hardware and want to tune the game around a high-refresh, 4K, or ultrawide display. They are not reasons by themselves to buy a new PC or display solely for this game.

Does the PC version outperform PS5?
There is no sound universal answer. A PC that meets a higher specification tier may target a higher resolution or settings level, and PC permits an unlocked frame rate, but real results vary by system and configuration. The official material cited here does not provide a complete PS5 mode-resolution and frame-rate table or a like-for-like benchmark, so it cannot substantiate claims that PC is categorically faster or that a particular PC tier beats a PS5 mode.
PlayStation’s PS5 hands-on account describes 4K visuals and fluid frame rates while its author played Performance mode. That is a qualitative description, not a numeric benchmark suitable for direct comparison with the PC targets.

Are the story content, accessibility options, and account rules different?
Content and accessibility
The PC release includes New Game+ and Valhalla. PlayStation introduced reduced puzzle hints and cinematic audio description with the PC version and said those settings would soon be added to console. The PS4 and PS5 versions also have more than 60 accessibility options, including subtitle and caption customization, controller remapping, high-contrast modes, and gameplay adjustments. Photo Mode arrived in a later update.
PSN sign-in on PC
PlayStation announced on January 29, 2025 that a PlayStation Network account is optional for God of War Ragnarök on PC. Signing in is also optional if you want the stated account benefits, including trophies and friend management, as well as the in-game armor set and resource bundle described in the announcement. Launch-era 2024 pages that called sign-in required have been superseded by this later policy announcement.

Which version should you choose?
Choose PS5 if…
- You already own a PS5 and want to play without assessing PC components or adjusting graphics settings.
- You value the DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers PlayStation highlights.
- You do not need unlocked frame rates or ultrawide-display support.
Choose PC if…
- Your PC is already close to the publisher’s tier for the resolution and settings you want.
- You specifically want unlocked frame rates, DLSS/FSR/XeSS options, or 21:9 or 32:9 display support.
- You prefer PC input and configuration choices, with a controller such as DualSense available as an option rather than a requirement.
If you would need to buy a PC or upgrade several components just for Ragnarök, compare the full system cost and display you plan to use before treating PC as the better-value option. The practical advantage of each version depends more on the setup you already have and the features you care about than on a general claim that one platform runs better.
