Standard: choose the platform and format carefully
Standard is the simplest option if the goal is to play the game without paying for the Digital Deluxe bonuses or collector items. It was offered digitally and physically for PS4 and PS5. A physical Standard copy is the straightforward choice for readers specifically seeking a game disc; confirm that the listing is for the intended console generation.
Digital entitlements can vary by listing. The captured US PlayStation Store lineup includes both a PS4-only digital Standard version and a PS4/PS5 digital Standard version, so do not assume that every PS4 purchase includes PS5 access. Check the exact entitlement shown in the regional store or on the physical package before purchasing. The US PlayStation Store listing is one example, not a guarantee of the same options in every region.
#1 Best Overall
- Feel your journey through the Norse realms, made possible by immersive haptic feedback and adaptive trigger functionality.
- Take advantage of multidirectional 3D Audio; hear enemies approaching from any direction. (3D audio with stereo headphones (analog or USB))
- Bask in the beautiful worlds you travel through, brought to life by precise art direction and arresting attention to detail.
- Switch between full 4K resolution at a targeted 30 frames per second, or dynamic resolution upscaled to 4K at a targeted 60fps. (4K resolution requires a compatible 4K TV or display)
PS4-to-PS5 upgrade: launch guidance is historical
At launch, Sony announced that a PS4 Standard purchase could be upgraded to PS5 for $10 USD or the currency equivalent. That was a 2022 announcement, not confirmation of a currently available upgrade or current price. Check the game’s current regional PlayStation Store page and the entitlement attached to the specific copy you plan to buy.
Digital Deluxe: game plus digital extras
Digital Deluxe is for players who want bonus gear and digital collectibles rather than physical memorabilia. Its announced additions are Darkdale Armor, a Darkdale Attire cosmetic, Darkdale Axe Grip, Darkdale Blades Handles, the Dark Horse digital art book, the official digital soundtrack, a PSN avatar set, and a PS4 theme. The in-game items unlock through story progression, so they are not all available immediately.
Rank #2
The edition’s distinction is its digital content. If those items and media do not appeal, Standard gives you the full game without that bundle of extras. The official PlayStation FAQ lists the edition contents.

Collector’s and Jötnar: the game is a voucher, not a disc
Both premium physical editions include a printed voucher for the full game, usable for PS4/PS5, rather than a game disc. Their Steelbook is a display case; it does not contain the game. That distinction matters if you specifically want a disc copy or are buying a secondhand box.

Collector’s Edition
The Collector’s set centers on a 16-inch Mjölnir replica, Dwarven dice, two 2-inch Vanir Twins carvings, a Knowledge Keeper’s Shrine, and the Steelbook display case. It also includes the printed game voucher and a digital contents voucher. It suits buyers who want the core physical collectibles without the extra items in the Jötnar set.
Jötnar Edition
Jötnar includes the Collector’s core hammer and Vanir carvings, along with a 7-inch vinyl featuring two tracks by Bear McCreary, a Falcon/Bear/Wolf pin set, a Draupnir ring, Brok’s dice, and a Yggdrasil cloth map. It also has the Steelbook display case and printed game voucher. Its additional appeal is the broader set of physical memorabilia.

Launch bonuses and secondhand copies
The official FAQ identifies Kratos’s Risen Snow Armor and Atreus’s Risen Snow Tunic as preorder bonuses. The 2022 announcement also described voucher codes for selected digital bonuses in Launch, Collector’s, and Jötnar editions, with redemption requiring a PlayStation Network account and an internet connection.
Those were launch-era terms, not a guarantee that a current or used copy includes an unused, valid code. When considering a resale listing, ask the seller whether codes are present and unredeemed, and inspect the box and inserts. The official sources establish the original redemption requirements, but not whether a particular code still works or remains unused.
Best Value
- Those who break fate: Atreus seeks knowledge to help him understand the prophecy of "Loki" and what role he is to play in Ragnarök. Kratos must decide whether he will be chained by the fear of repeating his mistakes or break free of his past to be the father Atreus needs.
- Weapons of war : The Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos and Guardian Shield return alongside a host of new abilities for both Kratos and Atreus. As they take on gods and monsters from across the Nine Realms, Kratos's deadly Spartan skills will be tested like never before as he fights to protect his family.
- Explore the realms :Journey to dangerous and stunning landscapes and face a wide variety of enemy creatures, monsters and Norse gods as Kratos and Atreus search for answers and allies.
- Please note that this item is not for sale to people under the age of 18. By placing an order for this product, you declare that you are 18 years of age or older. This item must be used responsibly and appropriately.
Which edition should you choose?
- Choose Standard if you want the game itself. Match the platform entitlement and physical or digital format to your console and preference.
- Choose Digital Deluxe if the Darkdale gear, soundtrack, art book, avatars, and theme matter to you.
- Choose Collector’s for the Mjölnir replica, shrine, dice, and carvings, while accepting that the game comes as a voucher rather than a disc.
- Choose Jötnar if you want the Collector’s core items plus the vinyl, pins, ring, and cloth map.
For either premium box, compare the actual asking price with its condition and confirm whether codes have been redeemed; original edition contents alone do not establish the value or completeness of a present-day resale listing.
