How to make subtitles bigger in God of War Ragnarök
Open the game’s Settings, choose Accessibility, and look for the text and subtitle controls. The official God of War Ragnarök Accessibility guide lists the subtitle and caption size choices as Default, Large, and X-Large. Select Large or X-Large to enlarge dialogue subtitles and captions.

If menus and other interface text are also difficult to read, change UI Text Size separately. Its choices are Default, Large, X-Large, and XX-Large. Changing UI Text Size alone will not enlarge subtitles; adjust both controls if both kinds of text need to be larger.
How to turn on captions and make dialogue easier to follow
Subtitles show spoken dialogue. Captions add non-speech audio and descriptions, such as sounds that may provide context during play. Each can be switched On or Off, and their shared size control offers Default, Large, and X-Large.

Adjust the subtitle and caption background
Choose None, Light, or Dark for the subtitle/caption background. Light uses a low-opacity dark backing; Dark uses a higher-opacity dark backing. You can also enable background blur. These options can make text stand out from busy scenes without changing its size.
Add speaker and sound-direction information
Turn on Speaker Names to identify who is speaking. Direction Indicators can show the screen-relative direction of audio. These controls provide context in addition to the words themselves.

Choose subtitle, speaker, and caption colors
Subtitle, speaker, and caption colors can be configured independently. Available choices are Off/White, Cyan, Green, Yellow, Pink, Orange, Purple, and Blue. Try a combination that remains distinct against the game’s scenes and backgrounds.
Make the HUD and other visual information clearer
Text enlargement is only one option. The accessibility controls also include icon scaling, UI color correction, High Contrast HUD, High Contrast Display, and full-screen color filters. The official accessibility guide lists icon sizes as Small, Default, Large, and X-Large.

Use High Contrast Display for gameplay categories
High Contrast Display offers presets including General, Red-Green, Green-Red, Blue-Yellow, Collector, Danger, and Lighting. You can also assign colors to individual categories, including characters, enemies, targets, interactables, hazards, traversal markings, and background. This can help separate important elements from the scene, but the best combination depends on the player and display.
The High Contrast Display can be paired with a swipe toggle during gameplay and automatically turns off in character menus. Color filters—Red-Green, Green-Red, and Blue-Yellow—shift colors across the full screen. These are settings to experiment with, not guaranteed accommodations or medical treatments.

Start with a preset, then tune individual settings
The game provides vision and hearing presets that can be applied at Some or Full levels. A hearing preset is a useful starting point for subtitle and caption controls; a vision preset can help surface visual options. Presets do not determine what an individual player needs, so adjust specific controls after applying one. Changed settings are marked blue, which helps identify what has been modified.
What to know about screen reader and subtitle coverage
PlayStation’s game listing says the screen reader can help with starting the game and adjusting settings, but may not communicate additional gameplay text and visual information. It also notes that subtitles cover the main story and main characters only; they should not be assumed to cover every spoken line or all gameplay information.
