A goal tracker app is most useful when its tracking method matches the goal: recurring habits need check-ins, measurable outcomes need numeric targets, and larger efforts need milestones. For a mix of formats, Strides offers habit, target, average, and project trackers; Habitica is an option if you want habits and tasks wrapped in game mechanics. Neither feature set proves that an app will improve results for every user.
What a goal tracker app should help you do
“Goal tracker app” can mean a habit log, a progress dashboard, a task manager, or a system for breaking a project into milestones. Before choosing an app, define what progress looks like and how often you will record it. Then check whether the app supports that format, gives useful feedback, and fits your devices and privacy preferences.

One reader discussion asks for an app that separates habits from daily tasks and includes a calendar, without requiring gamification. That is a useful example of why organization and calendar visibility may matter as much as motivation features: the discussion does not establish which app is best, but it highlights a practical comparison question.
Match the tracker to the kind of goal
Strides describes four tracker types. These are product capabilities, not evidence that one method is more effective than another.
#1 Best Overall
- SET CLEAR GOALS & STAY FOCUSED Turn big ideas into manageable action steps with a guided goal planner designed to help you plan, track and review your personal, work, school or lifestyle goals.
- SMART GOAL SETTING PAGES Includes structured SMART goal planning sections to help you define specific goals, break them into actions and stay accountable throughout the year.
- VISION BOARD, BUCKET LIST & LONG TERM PLANNING Create a clear picture of what you want to achieve with dedicated pages for vision boards, long term goals, bucket list ideas and future planning.
- MONTHLY REFLECTIONS & HABIT TRACKING Review your progress, reflect on what worked and build better routines with monthly reflection pages and habit planning tools.
- A5 PASTEL RAINBOW DESIGN A colorful, easy to use productivity planner with a soft pastel look, ideal for goal setting, self improvement, New Year planning, students, entrepreneurs and busy adults.
| Goal format | What you record | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Habit | Whether you did a recurring behavior | Practiced a language today |
| Target | Progress toward a numeric amount | Save a specified amount by a deadline |
| Average | A measure you want to maintain or improve over time | Track a weekly average rather than a single-day result |
| Project | Completion of steps or milestones | Break a larger project into checkpoints |
Strides describes setup for SMART goals and provides templates; its product page says, “Set any SMART Goal with a simple 3-step process, or get started with a popular tracker template.” Treat this as the developer’s description of the app, not an independent assessment. The Google Play listing states that it includes 150 popular templates and was updated September 24, 2026. Those are vendor-provided product details, and template availability may change.
Compare Strides, Habitica, and a task manager
| Option | Best fit to consider | What the vendor documents | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strides | People who want different goal formats in one tracking app | Habit, target, average, and project trackers; the vendor also describes charts, streaks, pace, reminders, reports, and milestone checklists. | Confirm the features you need on your device and whether they require Plus. The reviewed sources do not establish full Android and Apple-platform feature parity. |
| Habitica | People who like game-style motivation alongside habits and tasks | The official features page and Google Play listing describe a gamified habit and productivity app, shared challenges, and in-app purchases. | Decide whether game mechanics and the app’s task organization suit your routine; they are optional design choices, not a guaranteed motivator. |
| Todoist | People whose main need is task management and who want to review backup and export options | Todoist’s official help explains data export and says Pro and Business users get daily in-app backups. | It is a task manager example, not evidence of the dedicated goal-tracker formats described for Strides. |

Reminders and organization
Strides’ Help Center describes configurable schedules and reminders. It also documents tags and filters in Plus. Check whether you can set the cadence you need and whether reminders can be kept separate from ordinary task notifications.

Progress feedback
Strides describes streaks, pace, charts, reports, and milestone checklists. These tools can make logged progress easier to review, but product feature descriptions do not establish that they produce better outcomes for every user.
Devices, sync, and backup
Strides’ help content lists iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, and describes sync and backup with Plus. The developer also has a separate Android app listing. The available product information does not establish that every feature works identically across operating systems, so verify the specific device support and sync behavior you need before committing.

Export and portability
Look for a documented way to export or retrieve your records if you might switch apps. Todoist’s help material discusses data export and daily in-app backups for Pro and Business users. Do not assume another app offers the same options; check its current help pages and plan details.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Review privacy and plan terms before you sign up
Strides says it does not sell data to other companies or advertisers. Its privacy policy describes iCloud storage on iOS and optional cloud backup on Android; its Google Play listing includes a separate developer-provided data safety disclosure. These are statements and disclosures from the provider, not independent audits. Read the current policy and store listing for information about storage, sharing, deletion, and export.

- 52 Weeks Undated Planner : No preprinted fixed dates allow you to start planning at any week without wasting blank pages. You can pause recording and resume later freely, avoiding unnecessary page waste caused by interrupted use of dated planners.
- WEEKLY GOALS & FOCUS SETTING: Prioritize your core weekly objectives at the top of each page to clarify main tasks ahead of trivial affairs. This structure helps you cut down aimless busyness and keep your whole week’s work and life on track.
- DETAILED DAILY TO DO LIST: The page is divided into independent writing areas for Monday through Weekend. You can sort and record work assignments, study tasks and personal errands separately, so important schedules will not be forgotten or omitted.
- BUILT-IN HABIT TRACKER TABLE: Special grid area supports marking daily habit completion status, with columns for goal setting and weekly achievement statistics. It helps you intuitively track persistence progress without purchasing an extra separate habit journal.
- FLAT LAY SPIRAL BINDING: Double wire coil binding enables the planner to lie fully flat for smooth writing without flipping back. Compact lightweight body is easy to slip into backpacks and tote bags, suitable for office work, school study and travel arrangement.
Strides describes a free tier and an optional Plus subscription with monthly and annual terms, as well as occasional lifetime purchases. The reviewed sources do not establish a current price. Check the in-app purchase screen or relevant store listing for the amount, renewal terms, and whether the features you want are included. Availability and terms may change by platform or region.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsA practical way to choose
- Write the goal in trackable terms. Decide whether you need to record a repeated action, reach a number by a date, monitor an average, or complete project milestones.
- Choose the simplest format that fits. Compare the relevant tracker type in Strides with Habitica’s habit-and-task approach; if your work is mainly a list of tasks, a task manager such as Todoist may be a closer fit.
- Check the routine features. Confirm schedules, reminders, calendar visibility, organization, and progress views against the way you plan to use the app.
- Verify your platform and plan. Review current device support and which capabilities are free or paid, rather than assuming feature parity across app versions.
- Read privacy and portability details. Check the current policy and store disclosure, then confirm how to export, back up, or delete your records.
Feature, policy, and subscription details can change. Use the vendors’ current pages—Strides Help Center, Strides Privacy Policy, and the relevant app-store listings—to verify details before relying on them.
