What the NucBox K17 is built around
The K17 uses Intel’s Core Ultra 5 226V, an 8-core, 8-thread Lunar Lake processor with a listed 2.1GHz base frequency and up to 4.5GHz P-core turbo. GMKtec lists 20W, 25W and 35W operating modes, plus 37W peak power. Those figures describe the manufacturer’s stated modes and peak; they do not establish how long the system sustains a given power level under load.

Integrated graphics and AI acceleration
Graphics are handled by Intel Arc 130V. GMKtec lists up to 53 TOPS for the graphics component and a further 40 TOPS from the AI Boost NPU, for up to 97 TOPS of combined AI performance. TechRadar Pro also reports the 97-TOPS combined figure. TOPS is an AI-throughput specification, not a gaming benchmark or a prediction of how quickly a particular application will run. The cited material provides no independent game or application test results.
Memory is the main long-term constraint
The K17 has 16GB of onboard LPDDR5X memory rated up to 8533 MT/s. It is not upgradeable, so you cannot add RAM later. That amount may suit everyday desktop work and moderate multitasking, but buyers should consider their actual memory needs before choosing the machine—especially if they expect to keep many demanding applications open or run memory-intensive creative workloads. The fixed capacity also means the second M.2 slot expands storage, not memory.

Two M.2 slots give the K17 its clearest advantage
GMKtec specifies two M.2 2280 NVMe slots, with different link speeds. The company’s stated maximum is 16TB total using two 8TB drives; this is a supported capacity claim, not a statement that every configuration ships with that much storage.

GMKtec lists 512GB, 1TB and 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD configurations, while its specifications also describe the two-slot, up-to-16TB arrangement. Confirm the installed drive and which slot it occupies for the exact configuration you plan to buy; a configuration’s included SSD may already use a slot. For a separate upgrade, check the drive’s M.2 2280 form factor, capacity, PCIe generation and physical cooling clearance. The K17 does not support SATA SSDs, so an M.2 SATA drive is not a substitute for an NVMe model.

Three-display support, including advertised 8K output
The K17 has two HDMI 2.1 outputs and one USB4 connection that supports DisplayPort, allowing up to three displays according to GMKtec and TechRadar Pro. GMKtec advertises 8K output, but the cited specifications do not state the refresh rate or establish which port and display configuration achieves it. If a particular 8K refresh rate or multi-monitor mode matters, verify that detail against the monitor and the live manufacturer specification before buying.

Ports, networking and expansion limits
The K17’s USB4 port is specified at up to 40Gbps and supports 100W power delivery input. It can provide DisplayPort output as well as USB4 connectivity, but there is only one USB4 port. A hub or dock can help consolidate desk connections, though its port mix, DisplayPort support and power-delivery behavior should match the intended setup.

GMKtec lists dimensions of 127.5 × 127 × 44.5mm. TechRadar reports a weight of 460g (1.01lb). The product specifications list a 100W external power adapter and include a VESA mount and HDMI cable. The small size makes the K17 suitable for a compact desk or a VESA-mounted setup, but the cited sources do not provide independent measurements of fan noise, temperatures or sustained performance.

Reported prices depend on configuration
GMKtec’s US product page lists $599.99 for a 16GB/512GB configuration. TechRadar reported $619.99 for a 16GB/1TB configuration; the cited report does not specify a region. These are source-reported prices from 2026, not a guarantee of current availability or price. Check the seller’s live listing for the exact memory and SSD configuration, included accessories and return terms.
Who should consider the K17?
A good fit
- Buyers who want a very small Lunar Lake PC and value the option to install a second NVMe drive.
- Desk setups that need up to three display connections through two HDMI outputs and USB4 DisplayPort.
- Users whose workloads fit within 16GB of non-upgradeable memory.
Look elsewhere if
- You need more than 16GB of RAM or expect to upgrade memory later.
- Your expansion plan depends on OCuLink, SATA SSDs or more than one USB4 port.
- You need verified game performance, sustained-load behavior, fan noise or a specific 8K refresh rate before committing; the cited sources do not establish those results.
The GMKtec NucBox K17 is most compelling as a compact system with unusually flexible NVMe storage for its size. Whether that outweighs its fixed memory and limited high-speed expansion depends on the workload and connections you need.
