It is a niche gaming accessory, not a full keycap set or a proven way to gain speed: fit depends on the exact switch model, and GMK says it is not recommended for extended typing.
What GMK TriggerKey does—and what comes in the box
Instead of relying only on a switch’s conventional vertical movement, TriggerKey uses a lever mechanism to set an adjustable trigger point. GMK lists an actuation-control adjustment of 0–2 mm and tilt adjustment up to 34°. Three interchangeable stem-cap heights—0.7 mm, 1.2 mm and 1.7 mm—provide another way to adjust the fit and actuation point. These are manufacturer specifications, not measurements of a competitive advantage. GMK’s product page describes the mechanism and its limits.

The package contains four TriggerKeys, the three stem-cap variations, an installation tool, an adjustment tool and a storage case. The German shop listing also names a quick guide and spare screws. The four-key scope means this is for a small set of chosen keys, not a board-wide replacement.

Will TriggerKey fit your switches?
Do not decide by stem appearance alone. GMK says TriggerKey is designed for traditional MX-style switch housings, including Cherry and most Gateron switches, while excluding most Hall-effect switches and Kailh Box designs. Its model-level list includes exceptions, so a broad label such as “MX-like” is not enough to establish compatibility.
The official compatibility list is labeled “Last Update: October 6, 2026.” It lists Cherry MX Red, Brown, Blue and Black, and Gateron Red, Brown, Blue, Yellow and Black as compatible examples. It marks Cherry MX Low Profile Red and Speed, Kailh BOX Red, Brown, White, Jade and Navy, Wooting Lekker V1/V2/Tikken, and multiple magnetic Hall-effect models as incompatible. Some magnetic products are listed as compatible where they use MX-style housings; other models with MX-like stems are excluded because of housing geometry.

- Find the exact switch model in GMK’s current compatibility list; match the full model name rather than the brand or stem style.
- If it is listed as incompatible, do not assume an adapter or similar-looking switch will make it fit.
- If your exact model is absent, compatibility is not established by the general MX-style description. Check with GMK before buying.
How installation and adjustment work
GMK’s manual describes a snap-on installation and tool-assisted disassembly. Adjustment involves the actuation point and lever angle; changing the cross-stem cap can further alter the actuation point. The manual recommends the 1.7 mm adapter for north-facing orientation and the 0.7 mm adapter for south-facing orientation. Follow the manual for the specific switch and orientation rather than treating a single setting as universal.
There are several physical adjustments to manage, so TriggerKey is less straightforward than fitting ordinary keycaps. The included installation and adjustment tools are part of the package; no software setting is described as controlling the mechanism.

What are the limitations for gaming and typing?
GMK’s official product FAQ says: “GMK TriggerKey is optimized for gaming and is not recommended for extended typing sessions.” That makes intended use an important buying distinction: this is aimed at selected gaming keys, not as a general typing upgrade.
GMK also cautions: “Due to the lever mechanism, changes to the switch characteristics may occur and are generally expected. The extent of these changes depends on the specific switch used, as well as the TriggerKey’s adjustment settings and preload.” In practical terms, the lever can alter the force curve or feel, and the result can vary with switch and setup.

GMK promotes speed, precision and comfort, but the available product specifications do not establish measured improvements in latency, accuracy, typing comfort or durability. Treat those as product positioning, not verified performance outcomes.

The German shop listed €49.00 including VAT, plus shipping, and an estimated delivery time of 1–3 days. Who should consider GMK TriggerKey?
- A plausible fit: a gamer who wants adjustable actuation on a few keys, has an exactly compatible switch model, and is comfortable tuning a mechanical accessory.
- A poor fit: someone seeking a full keyboard or full keycap set, planning extended typing, or using a switch model that GMK lists as incompatible.
- Wait and verify: if the switch model is missing from the compatibility list or you need independently measured proof of performance gains. GMK’s stated adjustment range alone does not show that a particular setup will improve play.
