Yes. GMC describes Bluetooth in the Acadia as a way to connect a compatible phone for hands-free calls and streaming audio. The available functions and pairing controls depend on the Acadia’s model year, infotainment system, equipment, and phone. For example, the 2019 owner’s manual covers calls and Bluetooth music, while GMC’s general pairing guide gives a current menu path that may not match every year’s display.
What can Bluetooth do in a GMC Acadia?
Bluetooth can connect a compatible phone to the vehicle for hands-free calling and, when the phone supports it, audio streaming. GMC describes these uses in its Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support information.

The 2019 Acadia owner’s manual describes a hands-free phone system and Bluetooth music playback. It also cautions that phones do not all support the same functions and that some may not support audio streaming. Its statement about hands-free calling is specifically about vehicles equipped with that system: “Vehicles with a Hands-Free Phone system can use a Bluetooth-capable cell phone with a hands-free profile to make and receive phone calls.” See the 2019 Acadia owner’s manual for that system’s details.
How do you pair a phone?
GMC’s general quick-start guide gives this path: tap the Phone icon on the home screen, select “Manage Phones,” tap the plus sign (+), then follow the prompts on both the vehicle display and the phone. Menu names and steps can differ by model year, so use the matching Acadia manual if those controls are not present.

- Put the vehicle in a safe state for setup and open the Phone feature on the infotainment display.
- Choose “Manage Phones,” then tap the plus sign (+), if those options appear.
- Follow the vehicle’s pairing prompt and select the vehicle from the phone’s Bluetooth settings when prompted.
- Accept any phone prompts for contacts or notifications that you want to allow. For iPhone, GMC advises enabling “Show Notifications” and “Sync Contacts” for the vehicle’s Bluetooth entry in iPhone Settings, then disconnecting and reconnecting.
These are GMC’s general in-vehicle pairing instructions, not a guarantee that every Acadia uses identical menus. In the 2019 manual’s system, successful pairing downloads the phone book automatically; only one paired phone can be connected at a time, and the system selects among multiple paired phones in the order they were first paired. Those details apply to that manual’s system, not necessarily every Acadia.
Is Bluetooth the same as Apple CarPlay or Android Auto?
No. Bluetooth calling and audio are distinct from Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which project supported phone apps onto the vehicle display. The 2021 Acadia manual presents smartphone projection as an “if equipped” feature. It describes wired projection through a USB data port; initial wireless projection setup may use USB or Bluetooth, with wireless enabled on the phone. Bluetooth’s role in that setup does not mean every Acadia has wireless CarPlay or Android Auto. Consult the 2021 Acadia and Acadia Denali owner’s manual for its equipment-specific instructions.

GMC says wireless CarPlay is available only on select vehicles and select iPhones. Its guide says first connection requires the vehicle to be in Park and that 2024 model-year vehicles require iOS 14 or later. That iOS requirement should not be assumed for older Acadia model years; check the relevant vehicle and phone documentation in GMC’s Apple CarPlay guide.

Because the question does not specify a model year or trim, the 2019 and 2021 manuals establish examples rather than identical equipment across all Acadias. GMC’s manuals page lets you select the vehicle’s model year, make, and model to open its matching owner’s manual.

- Check the manual for your exact model year and equipment for Bluetooth pairing, audio, and phone limits.
- Look separately for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and confirm whether the manual describes wired or wireless projection.
- Confirm phone compatibility and supported functions; a Bluetooth connection does not guarantee that every phone feature will work.
Use GMC’s manuals and guides page to find the vehicle-specific instructions. A cable may be needed for wired phone projection on an equipped vehicle, but it is not required for basic Bluetooth calling or audio.
