Linux Foundation Release Engineering’s Global-JJB v0.90.10.dev0+377006d development snapshot concentrates on CI reliability: it broadens jjb-verify coverage, makes pip installs safer behind Nexus 3, replaces an lftools virtualenv workaround, corrects package-list comparisons, and fixes Read the Docs packaging. The maintained v0.90.10 release line also includes Packer, Python 3.12.4/setuptools 72.2.0/Jenkins Job Builder 6.3.0, and CentOS 7 repository fixes.
What Global-JJB is
Global-JJB is a Linux Foundation Release Engineering library of reusable Jenkins Job Builder templates. It lets projects share established job definitions instead of maintaining separate templates for every repository.

The identifier v0.90.10.dev0+377006d denotes a development snapshot, while the related v0.90.10 maintained release notes document additional operational fixes. They should be treated as related records, not as an identical list of changes.

| Area | Change | Practical effect |
|---|---|---|
| pip and Nexus 3 | Separate the pip install pip setuptools operation into separate installation calls. |
Avoids failures observed when the combined command passed through a Nexus 3 proxy. |
jjb-verify coverage |
Test every change under the jjb directory instead of relying on the former narrower pattern. |
Jenkins Job Builder template patches that previously escaped verification are now included. |
| Shell verification | Test all changes in shell/*. |
Shell-script edits now trigger the intended verification path. |
| lftools installation | Replace the virtualenv workaround with pip install --user for global tool installation. |
Tools install in the invoking user’s location without the old virtualenv dependency. |
| Pre-build jobs | Move installation jobs to lf-infra-pre-build and install lftools with --user. |
Avoids an UNSTABLE result caused by a missing pip==18.0 installation. |
| pip selection | Use python -m pip. |
The command addresses the pip belonging to the selected Python interpreter rather than an operating-system wrapper. |
| Package-list comparison | Fix the post-builder comparison logic. | Different package-list files no longer incorrectly mark a build UNSTABLE. |
| Read the Docs packaging | Fix an RTD job that could not locate its PBR installation. | Documentation builds can find the required PBR package. |
Why jjb-verify may have missed a change
Jenkins Job Builder files
The previous change-detection pattern did not cover every patch under jjb. A modification could therefore merge without being exercised by the verification job. This snapshot changes the check to test all changes in that directory.

- Used Book in Good Condition
Shell files
Shell edits received a separate coverage fix: changes matching shell/* are now tested. If a shell patch was previously ignored, the new behavior is intended to make it part of verification.
How the lftools installation was changed
The snapshot removes the virtualenv workaround and installs lftools for the user with pip install --user. The related jobs were moved into lf-infra-pre-build, and the lftools dependency was updated to approximately 0.17.1.
Rank #2
Commands now use python -m pip, which ties pip execution to the selected Python interpreter. This matters on agents where an operating-system-provided pip command may point at a different Python or an older wrapper.
Other fixes in the maintained v0.90.10 line
| Component | Fix |
|---|---|
| Packer build script | Handles long filenames, including names such as mininet-ovs-2.8.pkr.hcl. |
| Python packaging | Addresses the incompatibility involving setuptools 72.2.0, Python 3.12.4, and Jenkins Job Builder 6.3.0 by adding pkg_resources.extern to hidden imports. |
| CentOS 7 repositories | Switches mirrorlist URLs to the CentOS vault after CentOS 7 reached end of life. |
Version and compatibility guidance
The notes identify one specific compatibility case rather than declaring a universal version matrix: setuptools 72.2.0 with Python 3.12.4 and JJB 6.3.0 required the hidden-import adjustment described above. The documentation does not establish that every other Python, setuptools, or JJB combination is supported.
Similarly, the lftools update is stated as approximately 0.17.1; the notes do not provide a broader lftools compatibility table.

What maintainers should check after adopting the fixes
- Confirm that edits anywhere below
jjband inshell/*reachjjb-verify. - Run pip through the target interpreter with
python -m pip. - When installing lftools in pre-build jobs, use the user-install path and expect the approximately 0.17.1 update.
- On Nexus 3-backed agents, keep pip and setuptools installation calls separate.
- For Python 3.12.4/JJB 6.3.0 environments, verify the setuptools 72.2.0 hidden-import workaround is present.
- Use CentOS vault repositories for CentOS 7 jobs rather than retired mirrorlist endpoints.
