What are the Orchid Awards?
The Secretariat describes the Orchid Awards as an international cultural prize founded by CICG to recognize foreign individuals and institutions dedicated to strengthening cultural ties between China and the rest of the world. That description and purpose come from the event organizer’s release.
The same release says earlier Global Civilization Dialogues events had traveled to Beijing, Guangzhou, Dunhuang, Chongqing, Chengdu, and Harbin. It also describes Xi’an as a capital under 13 dynasties; that figure is the Secretariat’s historical framing in the release.
