GFiber lists its Core 1 Gig plan at $70 per month, with advertised speeds up to 1 Gbps for both downloads and uploads. The plan includes a Wi-Fi 6E router, and GFiber says installation, Wi-Fi, and unlimited data are included. It is a compelling straightforward gigabit option if your exact address is eligible, but the advertised price excludes taxes and a local access fee, and “up to” is not a promise of a particular Wi-Fi speed.
What does GFiber’s $70 Core 1 Gig plan include?
GFiber’s current plan page lists Core 1 Gig for $70 per month. Its February 23, 2026 article describes the plan as including installation, Wi-Fi, unlimited data, and no annual contract. The company also says the $70 price has remained the same since 2012; that is GFiber’s historical pricing claim, not an independently verified price history. GFiber’s current plan page and February 2026 Core plan article are the sources for the current offer and stated inclusions.

How fast is GFiber internet in practice?
“Symmetrical” means the plan advertises equal maximum download and upload speeds: up to 1 Gbps in each direction. It does not guarantee that every device will measure 1 Gbps, particularly over Wi-Fi. GFiber’s broadband-label explainer notes that equipment is one factor affecting speed. Home layout, device capability, connection type, and where a Wi-Fi test is taken can all matter; the advertised ceiling should not be read as a guaranteed result for each device or room. GFiber’s broadband facts explainer provides the company’s speed-label context.

- Each nest Wi Fi router provides up to 2200 square feet of fast, reliable Wi Fi coverage for your home. [1]
For a useful first check, GFiber recommends connecting a computer to the Fiber Jack or router with Ethernet to get the fastest possible speeds. If you report a speed result, note whether it was wired or Wi-Fi, the device used, and its location. This review has no firsthand test results, and a single household’s anecdotal observation cannot establish typical performance. No representative independent speed or reliability statistic for this exact plan is established here. See GFiber’s FAQ for its wired-testing advice.
Is GFiber available at your address?
Availability is address-specific. A city or state appearing in GFiber’s service information does not mean every home there can order service; in some places, the network is still being built. Enter the exact service address in GFiber’s address checker before treating the plan as an option. GFiber also says pricing and availability can vary by location, and plan features and equipment may depend on the address. Its FAQ explains the address-check requirement; its Atlanta service page illustrates that construction status can vary within a market.

Is $70 a month worth it for 1 Gig internet?
For an eligible household that needs fast uploads as well as downloads, wants included Wi-Fi equipment, and values unlimited data without an annual contract, the plan is attractive and easy to understand. The decision depends on the full local bill and alternatives, not the headline price alone. The $70 figure is before taxes and the local access fee, and neither serviceability nor the exact equipment package should be assumed without checking the address.

GFiber Core 1 Gig is a strong, simple gigabit proposition on paper: $70 monthly before taxes and local access fee, equal advertised upload and download ceilings, included Wi-Fi equipment, unlimited data, and no annual contract according to GFiber. It makes the most sense where the exact address qualifies and the total bill compares well with local alternatives. Its advertised maximum is not a promised Wi-Fi test result, and independent representative performance data for this specific plan is not established here.
