In cPanel, open Files → FTP Accounts and find the account you want to use. Select its FTP-details or configuration action to see the username, server address, and port. Hostinger’s example uses port 21. If your domain does not point to Hostinger through nameservers, use your hosting account’s IP address as the host instead. The FTP password is not displayed; reset it if you do not know it.
Find the FTP details in cPanel
- Log in to cPanel for the hosting account that contains your website.
- Under Files, open FTP Accounts.
- Find the FTP account you use and select its details or configuration action. The account row also provides actions to change its password or quota and to delete it.
- Note the username, server or host, and port shown for the account. Hostinger’s cPanel example shows port 21.
Use the account IP address as the host if your domain is not pointed to Hostinger by nameservers; in that situation, Hostinger says the FTP server address will not work as the connection host. See Hostinger’s cPanel FTP-details guide.

Check which interface you have
Hostinger’s cPanel instructions and its current dashboard instructions describe different interfaces. If you are in the Hostinger dashboard rather than cPanel, go to Websites → Dashboard for the relevant PHP or HTML site, then open Files → FTP Accounts. The FTP Access card shows the main account details, with additional accounts listed farther down. Hostinger’s dashboard guide identifies the FTP IP as the server address, gives port 21 for plain FTP, and shows the upload directory. For a primary root domain, that directory is typically public_html; use the directory shown for your own site. See Hostinger’s dashboard FTP-details guide.

To connect, you need the host or IP address, FTP username, port, and FTP account password. Hostinger’s FileZilla example uses the FTP IP as the host and port 21. Its instructions describe plain FTP settings; choose settings that match the protocol your hosting plan supports. For client setup, see Hostinger’s FTP connection guide.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The password is hidden
The dashboard does not reveal the existing FTP password. Hostinger states that it is hidden for security reasons. If you have forgotten it, open Files → FTP Accounts, use Change FTP Password for the account, and set a new strong, unique password. Store it securely. See Hostinger’s FTP password instructions.
Confirm FTP is supported for your site and plan
- AI Builder sites: FTP is unavailable.
- Agency plans: Hostinger’s guidance is inconsistent about plain FTP availability: one page says agency plans support SFTP only, while another lists FTP for agency plans. Do not assume plain FTP is available; check your account’s current remote-access instructions or ask Hostinger to confirm the supported protocol.
Hostinger’s plan and site qualifications appear in its dashboard FTP guide and FTP connection guide.

Fix a 530 login error
A 530 error indicates a login problem. Check the host, account, and password before changing other settings:
- Confirm the host belongs to the hosting plan that contains the intended site.
- Make sure the username belongs to that website and FTP account. Hostinger documents different username patterns for main domains, addon domains, and additional FTP accounts, so use the exact username shown for the account rather than guessing its format.
- Enter the FTP account password, not the SSH password. If you are unsure of the FTP password, reset it using the account’s password action.
- If those checks do not resolve the error, try the server name shown in Plan Details instead of the IP address.
See Hostinger’s FTP connection-error guide for its troubleshooting steps.
