Gemini app ‘Pro’ users getting Veo 3 trial on Android & iOS

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Google has started rolling out a Veo 3 trial inside the Gemini app for Gemini “Pro” users on both Android and iOS. If you’re seeing references to Veo 3 (or a trial prompt) in your app, the practical question is simple: can you actually start using it, and what do you do when it doesn’t appear?

This guide covers what the trial means, where to look in the Gemini app on your phone, how to activate Veo 3 prompts, and what usually causes the trial to be missing (account state, app version, region, and background sync).

What a Veo 3 trial for Gemini Pro actually is

A Veo 3 trial is limited-time access to Veo 3 image/video generation features while your Gemini subscription qualifies. The trial is typically granted server-side per account, then surfaced inside the Gemini app UI as an available option or model access.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Depending on how Google configures the rollout for your account, the trial may be presented as a model choice (e.g., Veo 3), a banner/entitlement inside Gemini, or an “Activate trial” style prompt.

Who’s eligible (and why availability varies)

Eligibility is tied to multiple variables:

  • Your subscription tier (Gemini Pro specifically, not a free or basic tier).
  • Account entitlement state (whether the subscription is active, not paused, and not mid-transition).
  • Rollout scope (Google may enable the trial gradually by region or cohort).
  • App readiness (older Gemini app builds may not yet display the Veo 3 trial UI).

Even if you’re on Gemini Pro, you can still see “no trial available” temporarily while your account finishes the server-side enablement.

Check eligibility on Android (Gemini app)

Start with the fastest checks inside the Gemini app—this reduces time spent on reinstalling or changing account settings.

  1. Update Gemini: Open Google Play > search Gemini > tap Update (if available).
  2. Open Gemini and sign in with the same Google account you pay for.
  3. Tap profile icon (top corner) or Settings in the Gemini app.
  4. Look for a section like Subscription, Plan, or Manage subscription.
  5. Return to the main chat and look for a model selector or any banner indicating Veo 3 availability/trial.

If you don’t see Veo 3 anywhere after updating, don’t assume you’re ineligible. The trial may take a bit to propagate.

Check eligibility on iPhone and iPad (Gemini app)

iOS behaves similarly, but the entitlement can also depend on how your subscription is billed (Apple vs Google billing).

  1. Update Gemini: Open the App Store > search Gemini > tap Update.
  2. Open Gemini and confirm you’re signed into the correct Google account.
  3. Go to Settings (inside Gemini) and open Subscription or Plan.
  4. Check that your subscription status shows Active (or equivalent).
  5. Open a chat and look for a model selector and/or a trial entitlement banner for Veo 3.

If you recently changed billing or renewed your subscription, give it time to refresh your server entitlement.

How to start generating with Veo 3 during the trial

Once your trial entitlement is visible, using Veo 3 is usually a matter of selecting the model and sending a prompt.

  1. Open Gemini on Android or iOS.
  2. Start a new chat or open an existing thread.
  3. Use the model selector (if shown) to choose Veo 3.
  4. Enter a prompt describing the output you want (style, subject, camera framing, lighting, and constraints).
  5. Tap Send and watch for any trial-related prompts (for example, “trial use” messaging or a counter).
  6. If generation is blocked, confirm your plan status in Settings and try again after the app refreshes.

Your trial access should persist until it ends (or until your subscription status changes). If the trial ends, the model option typically disappears or generation returns an access error.

Common limitations you’ll see during the trial

Trials often come with caps and restrictions that differ from paid access. The exact numbers can vary by region and rollout cohort, but the usual patterns include:

  • Usage limits (a maximum number of generations or total output per trial window).
  • Queue/latency differences (higher demand can slow generation during limited access).
  • Feature gaps (some advanced controls may be limited compared to full access).
  • Model availability (Veo 3 can appear, then disappear temporarily if your entitlement sync fails).

When you hit a limit, the Gemini app usually shows an access message tied to your account entitlement rather than a device problem.

Account and billing gotchas (that block the trial)

These issues are the most common reasons Gemini Pro users still don’t see the Veo 3 trial.

  • Multiple Google accounts: You’re signed into Gemini with a different Google account than the one holding the subscription.
  • Subscription not fully active: It may say “Pro” somewhere but still be in a pending renewal state.
  • Billing system mismatch: On iOS, subscriptions can be billed via Apple; on Android, billing can be via Google. Entitlement sync may take time after changes.
  • Recent plan change: Upgrading to Gemini Pro right before the rollout can delay entitlement activation.
  • Family/managed accounts: Some account types can restrict model availability.

Troubleshooting when the Veo 3 trial doesn’t show up

If you’re Gemini Pro and the Veo 3 trial isn’t visible on Android or iOS, work through this sequence. Each step targets a specific failure mode.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

1) Confirm your app build is current

Open the Gemini app store listing and update. Then fully close the app and reopen it to force a fresh entitlement fetch.

2) Re-check subscription status inside Gemini

Go to Settings > Subscription/Plan and confirm it’s marked Active. If it shows anything else (paused, expired, pending), the trial won’t appear.

3) Confirm you’re signed into the correct account

Log out and back in, or switch accounts inside the Gemini app. This fixes the “Pro on one account, testing another” problem quickly.

4) Clear entitlement caching indirectly (don’t brute-force reinstall first)

Try: toggle airplane mode on for 10–15 seconds, then off; or switch from Wi‑Fi to cellular (or vice versa). This often forces the app to refresh server entitlements.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

5) Wait for rollout propagation

Server-side rollouts can take time. If you just upgraded to Gemini Pro, give it a few hours (sometimes longer) and re-check the model selector and trial banner.

6) If you recently changed payment method, verify renewal

On iPhone/iPad, confirm your Apple subscription is active in Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions. On Android, confirm the Google Play subscription is active in Play Store > your profile > Payments & subscriptions.

Veo 3 trial vs paid access (what to compare)

If the trial is not enough for your workflow, compare access conditions before it ends. Look for these differences in the Gemini UI and any access messages:

What to check Trial (typical) Paid (typical)
Generation quota Limited; ends after trial usage window Ongoing until plan change
Model availability UI May show a trial badge/banner Model remains available without trial messaging
Advanced controls May be partially restricted More consistent access to controls
Access errors Often quota/entitlement-based Usually only plan-related

When in doubt, the most reliable signal is whether Veo 3 stays in the model selector after the app fully refreshes your entitlement.

Privacy, safety, and content controls

Veo 3 generation features are subject to safety policies and content rules. Expect prompts related to disallowed subjects (e.g., explicit sexual content, instructions for wrongdoing, or impersonation) to be blocked or refused.

From an operational standpoint, don’t assume your prompt content is “private by default.” Treat prompts as sensitive, and avoid including personal data you wouldn’t want associated with an account.

FAQs

Do I need to enable anything to get the Veo 3 trial?

Usually no. If your Gemini Pro entitlement qualifies, the trial appears as a model option or banner in the Gemini app. If it doesn’t appear, focus on updating the app and confirming your subscription status is Active.

What if I see Veo 3 for a moment, then it disappears?

That often points to entitlement sync delays or a subscription state change (renewal pending, billing update, or account mismatch). Re-check subscription status in Gemini and force a refresh (toggle connectivity or restart the app).

Will the Veo 3 trial work the same on Android and iOS?

The experience should be consistent, but rollout timing and UI placement can differ. Both platforms depend on your server-side entitlement for the same Google account.

Does switching phones reset the trial?

Not if you stay on the same Google account. Trials are account-entitled. If you change accounts, you’ll lose entitlement tied to the original account.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can I use Veo 3 with the free Gemini tier?

Typically no. The trial described here is for Gemini Pro users, and free-tier users generally won’t see the same model access.

Bottom Line

If you’re on Gemini Pro and Veo 3 trial access is rolling out to your account, the trial should show up inside the Gemini app on both Android and iOS—usually as a model selector option or a trial banner. Start by updating the app, confirming your subscription is Active, and ensuring you’re signed into the correct Google account.

If it’s missing, treat it as an entitlement-sync or rollout-propagation problem first. Verify billing status, force a refresh, and then re-check the model selector after a few hours.
