Use E-Day weapons by matching their handling to the distance, cover and enemy in front of you—not by relying on an assumed tier list. The Coalition says projectiles have simulated ballistics and travel time, so targets at range may need to be led. Reload timing, recoil and the current encounter matter just as much as a weapon’s label.
How to choose a weapon in E-Day
Start with four questions: How far away is the target? Can you control recoil at that distance? Do you need a shot immediately, or have time to reload? What threat is changing the encounter? These distinctions follow The Coalition’s July 31, 2026 gameplay update, which describes projectile travel, recoil and selected weapon behavior.

- Distance: Projectiles travel rather than behaving like instantaneous hitscan shots. Beyond a weapon’s effective range, leading a moving target can matter.
- Recoil: Some automatic weapons reward short bursts. Sustained fire is not automatically the right choice at every range.
- Reload urgency: The Gnasher and Breechshot can be topped up one round at a time, allowing you to interrupt the reload and fire a loaded round when necessary.
- Situation: A weapon’s usefulness depends on your cover position, the available alternatives and which enemies are pressing you.
How to use each documented weapon
Gnasher
The Coalition’s update describes the E-Day Gnasher with six shells, rather than the eight associated with earlier design, and a round-by-round active reload. Load a shell or two when you have an opening, but do not treat the reload as an all-or-nothing cycle: if a threat closes, you can fire with the shells already loaded. In multiplayer, choose between the immediate close-range pressure of the shotgun and the time needed to aim or reload according to the situation.
Aiming behavior has specific multiplayer context. In its October 2026 beta-feedback post, The Coalition says Gnasher aiming down sights fires from the camera position, while hipfire uses a hybrid check of camera and muzzle shots and applies the one that better matches the expected hit. The post also reports increased ADS damage at range and improved hipfire consistency in the listed tuning. These are descriptions of that tuning and its intended consistency, not a promise that every shot will connect or a permanent balance guarantee. See The Coalition’s beta-feedback and tuning notes.

Breechshot
The Breechshot shares the Gnasher’s round-by-round active reload, so you can top up a round and return to the fight without completing a full reload. The Coalition describes it as returning with a one-shot headshot kill in PvP. That supports using it for deliberate multiplayer headshots; it does not establish campaign lethality or a damage figure.
Prototype Lancer
The Coalition calls the Prototype Lancer an all-round rifle, with a higher rate of fire and deeper magazine than recent Lancers. Track targets with sustained fire when the distance and recoil allow it; at longer ranges, use controlled bursts rather than assuming uninterrupted fire is best. The official beta notes report that its damage was adjusted between the first and second beta weekends, so any claim about its current relative strength needs to be checked against the live build.

Hammerburst
This version draws inspiration from the original Gears of War Hammerburst and fires an accurate six-round burst, according to The Coalition. Treat each burst as a deliberate firing unit: line up the target, fire, then reassess rather than treating it like an unrestricted automatic stream. A perfect active reload increases its rate of fire, making that reload a situational tempo reward. The Coalition’s beta notes also report a damage increase, so avoid relying on an undated damage ranking.

The Lancer Mk1 is described as deadly at close range and usable at mid-to-long range if you can control its strong recoil. It is a more demanding choice as distance grows: prioritize recoil control over spraying if you need to keep shots on target. The Coalition’s later beta notes list a damage reduction, so its relative strength may differ with subsequent tuning.

Vulcan and Gut-Puncher
The official beta-tuning notes mention both weapons, but the available official descriptions do not provide enough handling detail for a responsible weapon-specific guide. Do not infer their roles or performance from their names. The campaign demo interview shows a Vulcan, but that alone does not establish a complete arsenal or usage profile.
Adapt to campaign enemies, cover and mods
Campaign weapon choice is part of the encounter, not a fixed answer to a weapon matchup. In the September 4, 2026 Xbox interview, the developers describe Locust that climb to flank players and grenadiers that use smoke to approach at close range before attacking with a Gnasher. Matt Searcy frames encounters around the player’s cover position, available weapons and enemy combinations.
Rank #4
- Disc only. Original case and manual not included. Will come packaged in a generic case.
- This renewed game has been cleaned, tested, and shows minimal wear.
- If enemies are flanking, reassess whether your cover still protects you before committing to a weapon or reload.
- If smoke signals a close approach, avoid spending too long on a reload or precision shot while a close-range threat is advancing.
- When you have a safer angle and distance, make deliberate use of weapons whose effectiveness depends on aiming or recoil control.
The developers also say campaign weapon modification is available for the first time in a campaign game and connect exploration with gameplay progression. Explore and read each mod’s in-game description before deciding whether it suits your approach; the available descriptions do not establish particular mod names, effects or best combinations.
Practice handling and verify balance
The Coalition’s multiplayer deep dive describes Combat Training as a place to try weapons and combinations, with short Locust encounters also available. Use it to learn how a weapon handles and test a setup, rather than treating one combination as best for every mode.
Best Value
- Listen up, soldier. The world is in ruin. The Locust Horde has risen. It’s Human vs Horde, and here’s your mission: Pick a side, build a powerful deck, and win the war. The fate of the world is in your hands!
- Experience the gritty gunplay of the video game in this official two-player card game. Take command of the COG forces or the Locust horde and seize control of the battlefield, one chapter at a time.
- Strategise your way through each chapter, bolstering your forces with classic characters like Marcus Fenix, General Raam, August “Cole Train” Cole, Dominic Santiago, and Damon Baird.
- Every battle counts. Whatever happens in each chapter will change what comes next, so you’d better be ready to dominate. The deck you build and decisions you make will change the way you play each campaign, making this a game you can reload time and time again.
- Whether you're a hardened vet or a grass-green rookie, get ready to take cover and lay down suppressive fire. Your enemies are trying to take the line, soldier. You’d better shove back hard.
Weapon tuning is version-sensitive. The Coalition’s October 2026 beta notes record changes to the Gnasher, Prototype Lancer, Hammerburst and Lancer Mk1, among others. Treat those notes as evidence of the listed beta tuning, not a complete or permanent balance table; check the live game for current values and behavior.
