Gears of War: E-Day was reported by a Reddit commenter to have reached No. 1 on Steam’s U.S. Weekly Top Sellers chart, but the claim has not been confirmed by an official chart capture. The game’s early access began October 1, 2026, ahead of its worldwide launch on October 6. Critics’ early reviews were broadly positive, though that review coverage assessed single-player only.
Did Gears of War: E-Day reach No. 1 on Steam?
A Reddit commenter reported that Gears of War: E-Day reached No. 1 on Steam’s U.S. Weekly Top Sellers chart. That ranking should be treated as a community-reported claim: there is no official Steam chart capture here to verify the position. A chart rank is also not a unit-sales figure, so it cannot establish how many copies the game sold or whether it was a commercial success overall.
Why the game was already available before launch
The timing reflects two separate dates. Xbox Wire’s October 1 announcement said early access began worldwide that day at 8:00 a.m. PT (15:00 UTC), while the worldwide launch is scheduled for October 6 at the same time. Early access is for Premium Edition buyers and Game Pass subscribers who have the Premium Upgrade; it is not the general launch date.
The announcement lists Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Steam, and cloud gaming through Game Pass Ultimate and GeForce NOW. Xbox also says the game is available day one with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Availability depends on the access route and subscription or edition. What the early reviews say—and what they do not cover
Windows Central’s October 2, 2026 review roundup reported Metacritic at 88 and OpenCritic at 87 at the time of publication. Those are dated aggregator snapshots, not permanent scores. The roundup described generally positive responses to character work, combat, movement, and pacing, alongside criticism of aspects of the story, open-area design, and boss fights.
There is an important scope limit: the reviews available for that roundup covered single-player because multiplayer modes were not available to test during that review period. The scores therefore should not be read as a verdict on the full multiplayer experience. Windows Central’s roundup provides the dated context.

What Steam users think so far
A Steam store crawl observed on October 3, 2026 showed 85% positive user reviews from 874 reviews. That is a snapshot, not a stable score: another cached result showed a different percentage and count. User ratings can change as more reviews arrive, so check the live Steam page for the current rating and review total.
Steam user reviews and critic aggregators measure different audiences and should not be combined into a single score. Neither the review percentage nor the reported chart position reveals sales volume.

How to get the game and choose an edition
On Xbox’s U.S. product page, the Standard Edition was listed at $69.99 and the Premium Edition at $99.99 in 2026. Prices can vary by region and date, so check the local storefront before buying. Xbox lists up to five days of early access, weapon and customization packs, and 1,000 Iron among Premium’s additions. The Premium Upgrade is also the route identified for Game Pass subscribers seeking early access.

Xbox’s U.S. product listing gives the edition details. The physical disc option specifically confirmed by Xbox Wire is the Xbox Series X Collector’s Edition, which includes the Premium Edition game on disc. Its collector items include a 15-inch Marcus-and-Dom statue, SteelBook, replica COG tags, replica photograph, and art print, alongside Premium digital content.
