Garmin has announced the Approach S72, a golf-focused smartwatch that replaces the Approach S70. According to Notebookcheck’s October 6, 2026 report, it comes in 43 mm and 47 mm sizes with an AMOLED display, ECG, a built-in LED flashlight, course mapping and Training Readiness. Global orders open on October 9, 2026, at $799 in the US, €799 in the Eurozone and £699 in the UK.
What the Approach S72 offers
The details below come from Notebookcheck’s launch coverage, which attributes them to Garmin. Garmin’s own product page, titled “Garmin Approach S72 | Premium Golf Watch | 43 MM”, could not be loaded for checking, so treat this as the launch-report version of the spec sheet rather than a full official specification.

How it differs from the Approach S70
The report describes the S72 as a direct replacement for the S70. The differences it supports are the larger 64 GB storage, which leaves more room for downloaded course maps, and the feature list above, including the ECG and flashlight. It gives no size, weight or full battery comparison for the S70, so a line-by-line comparison isn’t possible yet. If you already own an S70, the practical question is whether the AMOLED display, ECG, flashlight and storage are worth a $799 / €799 / £699 upgrade for how you play.

ECG on a watch is a wellness feature. It is not a substitute for medical diagnosis, and nothing in the launch coverage suggests otherwise. Garmin’s ECG features have historically been restricted by country, and the report doesn’t say where the S72’s will be enabled. Check availability for your region before counting it as a reason to buy.
