What kind of game is Garfield: Escape from Monday?
Developed by OSome Studio and published by Microids, Garfield: Escape from Monday is a 3D platforming adventure. Its setup turns Garfield’s dislike of vegetables into a nightmare: after Jon feeds him spinach lasagna inspired by Chef Monday, Garfield must explore strange worlds, face enemies and find lasagnas to restore his taste buds. The premise and feature descriptions come from the publisher, rather than independent hands-on testing.

Microids announced versions for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a September 24, 2026 release date. Its announcement said: “The game will be available on September 24, 2026, on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.” Microids’ June 19, 2026 announcement has since been followed by a launch notice dated September 24, 2026.

The official description says Garfield can jump, climb walls and curl into a ball as he makes his way through three worlds and multiple levels. Costumes add three distinct abilities:

Collectibles have a second purpose beyond the route through each level: Microids says they can be used to refurbish Jon’s house. That gives exploration a collection goal, though the amount of meaningful challenge or variety behind those collectibles is not established by the publisher description alone.
What do the reviews say?
The available reviews offer different perspectives, not a definitive consensus. Pocket Tactics is broadly positive about the gameplay and performance. PSX Extreme describes the game as a missed opportunity, pointing to a gap between its controls and gameplay on one hand and its presentation on the other. Spanish-language outlet MeriStation is more critical of the controls, level design and visual presentation, while noting that younger players may enjoy exploring the levels.

What is confirmed for the PS5 version?
The PlayStation Store’s US listing identifies the PS5 version and states that it supports one player, offline play and DualSense vibration. It labels the content rating “Mild Fantasy Violence.” The listing does not establish the game’s resolution or frame rate, so there is no supported basis here for a performance specification.

Who is likely to enjoy it?
Garfield fans and younger players drawn to colorful exploration have the clearest reason to consider it. The costumes offer easy-to-understand variations in movement, and the collectible goal connects the levels to Jon’s house. On the other hand, the critical comments about controls, level design and visual presentation make it harder to recommend unreservedly to players who prioritize tight platforming or polished visuals.
