Garfield – Escape from Monday is a newly released, single-player 3D platformer that looks best suited to younger players who want a gentle adventure starring the famously grumpy cat. MeriStation’s review praises its humor but finds the controls clumsy, the challenge light and the collecting repetitive—limitations that may leave experienced platformer fans wanting more. The game launched on PC on September 24, 2026; this assessment draws on that review and the published Steam listing, not firsthand testing.
What is Garfield – Escape from Monday?
Developed by OSome Studio and published by Microids, Garfield – Escape from Monday is a licensed 3D platformer released for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 24, 2026. Steam lists the PC version as a single-player Adventure game with achievements, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing. Microids announced the launch, and Steam lists the PC edition.
What do you do in the game?
After Jon feeds Garfield spinach lasagna inspired by Chef Monday, Garfield falls asleep and enters a nightmare filled with vegetables and sugar-free candy. He explores the dream in search of lasagna and a way to wake up and regain his taste. Jon, Odie, Arlene and Pookie feature in the adventure; Microids names Nermal and Squeak among its adversaries.
Movement, costumes and collecting
Microids describes jumping, climbing walls and curling into a ball, alongside three costumes with different abilities: a turkey costume for airborne movement, a surfer costume for sliding over water, and a cowboy costume for swinging with a lasso. The publisher advertises three worlds and more than 40 levels; those are promotional scope claims, not an independent assessment of how varied or substantial the levels feel. Microids’ launch announcement also describes collectibles and lasagna that help refurbish Jon’s house.

Is Garfield – Escape from Monday worth playing on PC?
That depends on what you want from a platformer. MeriStation scored the game 6/10. Its review finds the acidic Garfield personality and fourth-wall jokes appealing, and says changes in perspective add some variety. But it also criticizes imprecise, clumsy controls, a weak challenge, repetitive collecting, basic visuals and environmental interaction, and unremarkable music. The reviewer describes many spaces as broad but underfilled despite the volume of objects to collect. Read MeriStation’s review.
| What you’re looking for | How the available review characterizes it |
|---|---|
| A relaxed game for a younger player | Potentially a fit: MeriStation says younger children may find it entertaining. |
| Responsive platforming and a strong challenge | Less promising: the reviewer faults the controls and describes the challenge as weak. |
| Varied, richly interactive levels | A concern: the review criticizes repetitive collecting, basic interaction and underfilled spaces. |
| Garfield’s familiar humor | A strength in the review, which praises the character’s personality and fourth-wall jokes. |
MeriStation’s comparisons are its own opinion, not a wider ranking: it names SpongeBob: The Cosmic Shake and SpongeBob: Titans of the Tide as preferable alternatives, and says Astro Bot and Donkey Kong Bananza are far beyond Garfield. The practical distinction is audience: this may suit someone prioritizing a low-pressure licensed character adventure, but it is a harder recommendation for a genre veteran seeking polished, demanding platforming.

Is it suitable for kids, and is it hard?
MeriStation’s view is that the game may entertain younger children, while experienced platformer players may be underwhelmed. Its low challenge can be a benefit if a child wants to explore and collect without demanding precision; the same lightness is a drawback if the player wants tough jumps or a sustained test of skill. The available assessment does not establish an age rating, so this is guidance about difficulty and appeal rather than a formal age recommendation.
How long is Garfield – Escape from Monday?
MeriStation estimates five to six hours of exploration and fun. That is the reviewer’s estimate, not a guaranteed completion time; individual playtime can vary with pace and how much collecting a player does.
