The best gaming TV for a bright room needs more than a high brightness figure: its screen must also manage reflections, and its gaming picture mode must suit the room. The five models below are an editorial shortlist, not a single tested ranking. For strong glare control, start with the Sony BRAVIA 9 II; for extensive high-refresh gaming features, consider the Samsung S95H OLED. The Hisense U7SG balances both use cases, while the LG C6 OLED and TCL QM6K suit different budgets and lighting conditions.
How to choose a gaming TV for a bright room
First identify the light your screen will face. Indirect ambient light, such as overhead lighting, is different from a window or lamp reflected directly in the screen. Brightness helps the picture compete with room light, but it does not make reflections disappear; screen finish and reflection handling matter too.

Compare brightness in Game Mode, the low-latency picture mode you are likely to use. RTINGS says its HDR brightness testing includes measurements in Game Mode, and notes that HDR brightness can change in that mode. Its methodology measures both static test slides representing different content types and points of light in real content. SDR brightness is more directly relevant to countering room glare, while HDR peak brightness affects the impact of highlights. A single peak number cannot describe performance in every scene or picture mode.

Consoles may not use the highest PC refresh rates. Also consider the games you play: bright sports and action games can make brightness and motion handling priorities, while dark, cinematic games can reveal OLED black-level changes in a bright room or LCD haloing around bright objects.

Five gaming TVs to consider for bright rooms
This shortlist combines separate RTINGS recommendations for bright-room and gaming performance. It is not a unified ranking tested for the combined use case. The right choice depends on your room, gaming system, and budget.
Sony BRAVIA 9 II: prioritize glare control
RTINGS names the BRAVIA 9 II its best tested bright-room TV and highlights its matte anti-reflective coating and high brightness. It is the clearest starting point when strong light or reflections are your biggest concern. The cited bright-room recommendation does not establish this model’s gaming response or refresh-rate capabilities, so check a model-specific gaming review for those details before buying. Samsung S95H OLED: prioritize gaming features
RTINGS names the S95H its best gaming TV tested overall. It reports four HDMI 2.1 ports, support for up to 4K at 165Hz, and FreeSync, G-SYNC, and HDMI Forum VRR. Those features make it a strong high-end candidate for gaming setups that can use them. The room-light trade-off is that OLED blacks may look gray in very bright conditions. RTINGS reports four HDMI 2.1 ports supporting up to 4K at 165Hz, FreeSync, G-SYNC, and HDMI Forum VRR, as well as Dolby Vision support. Reflections are more noticeable than on the Samsung, so this is a better fit for a moderately lit room than for strong direct glare. The 77- and 83-inch variants use the C6H name and have different brightness and color characteristics; confirm the exact model suffix and size when comparing listings. Hisense U7SG: balance light handling and gaming features
RTINGS includes the U7SG in both its bright-room and gaming recommendations. It reports a matte finish, four HDMI 2.1 ports, up to 4K at 165Hz, VRR, and 1080p at 330Hz. The trade-offs are haloing around bright objects on dark backgrounds and more motion blur than on the OLED candidates. Consider it if you want a feature-rich gaming set with a matte screen, and weigh those picture and motion compromises against your games. Bright-room recommendation · Gaming recommendation
TCL QM6K: a lower-cost option for indirect light
RTINGS describes the QM6K as an alternative if the U7SG costs too much and says it can handle indirect light, including overhead lighting. The recommendation does not establish it as a good choice for strong direct glare. If a bright window or lamp reflects onto your screen, choose with that limitation in mind rather than treating general brightness as a substitute for reflection handling. Which trade-off matters most in your room?
- Strong direct glare: Give screen coating and reflection handling priority. The BRAVIA 9 II is the bright-room lead in the cited roundup; the TCL QM6K is not established as suitable for strong direct glare.
- Moderate light and high-end gaming: Compare the S95H and C6 feature sets against your console or PC, while accounting for OLED black levels and reflections in your room.
- Overhead light and a broad gaming feature set: The U7SG is included in both recommendation lists, but its haloing and motion-blur trade-offs may matter more in dark or fast-moving games.
- Dark games in a bright room: Consider how ambient light can lift OLED blacks, and how bright-room LCD models can show halos around bright objects. These are different compromises, not a single winner for every game.
Check the exact model, size, and local price
Availability and recommendations can change. RTINGS’ bright-room page, updated September 16, 2026, says its shortlist also weighs price, visitor feedback, and availability. Confirm current local pricing, stock, screen size, and model suffix before deciding which set is the best value. In particular, distinguish the LG C6 from the larger C6H variants rather than assuming all sizes have identical brightness and color characteristics. RTINGS’ bright-room recommendations
RTINGS’ HDR brightness testing illustrates why scene context matters: in its HDR Hallway scene, it measured the Samsung QN90D at 1,063 cd/m² and the Hisense A7N at 253 cd/m² in 2026. Those are measurements of those two TVs in that particular scene—not of the five shortlisted models, nor universal brightness ratings. RTINGS’ HDR brightness methodology
