What makes a game similar to Hogwarts Legacy?
Hogwarts Legacy is a single-player, open-world action RPG set in the 1800s Wizarding World. It puts you in the role of a Hogwarts student who develops abilities through spells, potions, plants, magical beasts, quests, and combat, according to the official FAQ. That mix means “similar” can point to very different things: another world to explore, puzzle-solving, action, fantasy lore, or familiar characters and places.

Which game should you choose?
For exploration, combat, and puzzles: Immortals Fenyx Rising
Choose Immortals Fenyx Rising if you want a large world to explore, battles against mythological creatures, and puzzles that unlock rewards or new areas. Its combat is faster than Hogwarts Legacy’s, so it shares a broad adventure structure rather than matching its feel exactly.

For a story and lore-rich action adventure: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor offers an original Star Wars story across several partly open planets, alongside puzzles, collectibles, and unlockable Force abilities. Combat can be difficult; the lowest difficulty setting is available if you would rather focus on the story.

For a sprawling fantasy world and quests: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Pick The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for a large fantasy world, lore, locations, and quests. It is a darker fantasy adventure, not a school-life game, so the connection is its world-building and quest-driven exploration rather than its tone or setting.

For familiar Wizarding World characters and Hogwarts: LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1–4
LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1–4 covers the first four years of the series and includes familiar characters and a compact Hogwarts. It is the closest setting match in this list, but its structure and style differ substantially from Hogwarts Legacy.

Platforms, editions, and content notes
Platform availability depends on the game, edition, and region, so check the current store listing before buying. For Hogwarts Legacy, Warner Bros. Games’ original announcement lists February 10, 2023, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and May 5, 2023, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Those are historical launch dates, not a complete statement of current availability. The Warner Bros. Games announcement identifies Avalanche Software as developer and describes the game as an open-world role-playing game under Portkey Games.
Nintendo’s US store listing gives the Switch 2 version a June 5, 2025 release date and describes improvements to graphics, audio, loading, and controls. It lists single-system play and TV, tabletop, and handheld modes. The Nintendo US store page also lists Blood, Fantasy Violence, Mild Language, and Use of Alcohol as rating descriptors, and notes in-game purchases. These details apply to that listing; they should not be assumed to describe every recommended game or regional edition.

What is known about the Hogwarts Legacy sequel?
GamesRadar reported that Warner Bros. referred to a “second installment of Hogwarts Legacy” in a shareholder letter. The report did not establish the sequel’s form, gameplay details, or release timing, so there is no confirmed date to plan around based on that report.
