If you want another game after 007 First Light, start with Hitman World of Assassination for stealth, improvisation and replayable missions; choose Splinter Cell: Blacklist for a covert-agent stealth-action focus; or explore Metal Gear Solid for tactical espionage and a distinctive cinematic style. None is a one-to-one replacement: each emphasizes a different part of Bond’s mix of spycraft, gadgets, combat and story.
What makes a game feel like 007 First Light?
007 First Light is an original, standalone reimagining of James Bond’s origin. IO Interactive describes Bond as a 26-year-old Royal Navy air crewman recruited into MI6. PlayStation presents it as a third-person action-adventure with stealth, unarmed and weapon combat, gadgets and vehicles, and its official description invites players to go silent or loud. PlayStation’s game page and IO Interactive’s game announcement establish the blend; it is not simply a stealth simulator or a conventional shooter.

IO Interactive’s May 2026 launch announcement adds several useful comparison points: observational spycraft such as eavesdropping and pickpocketing; Bond’s Instinct for bluffing or luring; Q Branch gadgets for hacking, distractions and quiet takedowns; and combat that can escalate from close quarters to ranged encounters. Its Tactical Simulation (TacSim) mode offers replayable missions with modifiers, scoring and progression unlocks. The launch announcement is the source for those features.

#1 Best Overall
- EXPANSIVE CAMPAIGN: Many real-world locations have been captured using photogrammetry to recreate a living, immersive environment, and multiple infiltration and extraction points and kill list targets provide a whole new perspective on each mission. Take on the Nazi plot solo or work with a partner, with improved co-op mechanics allowing you to share ammo and items, give orders and heal each other.
- ADVANCED GUNPLAY PHYSICS AND TRAVERSAL: Use ziplines, slide down slopes and shimmy along ledges to reach the perfect vantage point, or to sneak past a sharp-eyed lookout. Factor in rifle stock and barrel options along with gravity, wind and heart rate while you line up your sights on the target.
- HIGH CALIBRE CUSTOMISATION: Use workbenches to customise and upgrade virtually every aspect of your weapon – change scopes, stocks, barrels, magazines and more. Rifles, secondaries and pistols all have a huge variety of options. On top of that you can select the ammo to suit your target, from armour-piercing right down to non-lethal.
- INVASION MODE – CAMPAIGN DROP IN PvP AND CO-OP: Invade another player’s Campaign as an Axis sniper and engage in a deadly game of cat and mouse, providing a new dimension to the challenge as you stalk your prey. Alternatively, as Karl you can call for assistance and have a second sniper drop in to help you out of a tricky situation.
- TENSE ADVERSIAL MULTIPLAYER: Customise your character and loadout and earn XP, medals and ribbons as you take on intensely competitive 16 player battles that will really test your sharpshooting skills. If co-op’s more your style, you can team up with up to 3 other players against waves of enemies in Survival mode.
| Game | Best fit if you want… | How it differs from First Light | Availability notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hitman World of Assassination | IO Interactive’s stealth, planning, improvisation and mission replay | The closest studio-family suggestion, not a guarantee of identical pacing, mission structure or stealth rules. | Current store and platform details were not verified. |
| Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist | A covert-agent premise and stealth-action framing | Ubisoft describes Sam Fisher confronting an escalating terrorist threat; the comparison is about covert-ops focus, not a full Bond-style mix. | Ubisoft’s page lists PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U. It says online features, including multiplayer and co-op, are no longer supported. Check regional storefronts for availability. |
| Metal Gear Solid | Tactical espionage, stealth and a distinctive cinematic style | A broader genre direction rather than a single directly comparable game; the series is not one consistent experience. | Verify the specific entry, platform and edition against current official listings. |
Choose by the part of Bond you want more of
For stealth, planning and replay: Hitman World of Assassination
Hitman World of Assassination is the most direct recommendation if what you enjoyed was working through a mission with room to plan, adapt and try again. The connection is IO Interactive: PlayStation explicitly links its First Light coverage to the studio’s Hitman stealth games, and IOI describes First Light as blending the studio’s signature stealth and action mechanics. That makes Hitman a sensible place to look for the developer’s approach to stealth and replay—not proof that its missions or rules match Bond’s.
For a covert-operative stealth-action story: Splinter Cell: Blacklist
Ubisoft frames Splinter Cell: Blacklist as a stealth-action thriller starring covert agent Sam Fisher as he faces a terrorist group’s escalating attacks. It is the clearest option here if you are after a covert-operator fantasy and stealth-action emphasis. Ubisoft’s page lists PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U; it also states that online features, including multiplayer and co-op, are no longer supported. Those are the details on Ubisoft’s page, not a guarantee that the game is currently sold in every region. Check Ubisoft’s Blacklist page and your regional storefront before choosing a platform.

For tactical espionage and cinematic style: Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid is worth exploring if the appeal is stealth framed as tactical espionage, with an unusually distinctive cinematic identity. Treat it as a direction to investigate, not a single interchangeable recommendation: the series includes different entries and editions, and the official collection page does not establish which one best fits your platform or preferences. Confirm the exact game and edition in current official listings before buying.

- Pick Hitman if you want more stealth planning, improvisation and the possibility of replaying missions from a different angle.
- Pick Splinter Cell: Blacklist if a covert agent and stealth-action framing matter more than matching First Light’s full range of gadgets, combat and Bond storytelling.
- Explore Metal Gear Solid if you want tactical espionage and cinematic storytelling, and are willing to select a particular entry rather than assume every game in the series is alike.
Platform and store availability for these alternatives was not comprehensively verified. In particular, check regional storefronts before purchasing Blacklist, and confirm the entry and edition before choosing a Metal Gear Solid game.

007 First Light release and editions
For readers still deciding whether to play First Light itself, IO Interactive’s launch announcement gave May 27, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and initially said Nintendo Switch 2 would follow in Summer 2026. The later official support page lists March 2027 for Switch 2 while retaining May 27, 2026 for the other platforms; this is the later checked schedule, and release dates can change. IO Interactive’s support page lists Standard, Specialist, Collector’s and Legacy editions, with a lifesize mask prop replica included in the Collector’s Edition.
When checked, PlayStation’s US page listed the standard game at $69.99 and the Deluxe Edition at $79.99, as well as a limited-edition First Light DualSense controller. These are US-page prices and listing details, not promises of current price or stock. Check PlayStation’s page for current details in your region.
