To set up a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, check the package and safety instructions for your region, power on the phone, and follow its on-screen prompts for language, network, accounts and security. Then transfer supported data, install updates, and confirm what charging adapter you need. Samsung unveiled the Fold8 on 22 July 2026; its 5.5-inch cover display and 7.6-inch inner display make it worth deciding early how you want to use each screen.
Before opening the box, check your region’s contents
Samsung’s published product information does not establish a universal Galaxy Z Fold8 box inventory. What is supplied can vary by market, so check the contents listed by your local Samsung store or retailer and compare them with the package you receive. Do not assume that a power adapter—or a particular cable—is included.

Before powering on, read the package instructions and model-appropriate safety information. Samsung’s support listing includes an Android 17 user manual and a safety guide; the available manual, language and revision depend on region. For example, Samsung Saudi Arabia lists an English Android 17 manual, revision 1.5, dated 1 September 2026. Use the support page for your model and market rather than relying on a manual for a different regional variant.

Transfer supported data from your old phone
Switching from iPhone
Samsung’s US guidance describes a wireless route that starts by scanning the QR code shown on the Galaxy device with the iPhone camera. For this route, Samsung says the iPhone does not need Smart Switch installed. The transfer covers supported data; it does not guarantee that every app, account, setting or content type will move. Check Samsung US Smart Switch guidance for current details.

Switching from another Android phone

Follow the current Smart Switch instructions for your source phone and confirm the transfer options shown on both devices. Afterward, check important contacts, photos, messages and files individually rather than assuming that everything migrated.

Samsung Australia says the Fold8 supports wired fast charging up to 45W with a compatible adapter, as well as wireless and reverse wireless charging. Those are charging capabilities, not a statement that an adapter or wireless accessory comes with every retail package. If you need to buy an adapter, look for a compatible 45W USB-C charger and verify compatibility for your market and charging needs before purchasing. Samsung Australia’s product guide lists the charging capabilities.
