Which is the better buy depends on your local price, warranty, and the features you value—not the spec numbers alone.

Displays: similar size, different shape
The inner displays are nearly the same diagonal size: Samsung lists 8.0 inches and vivo lists 8.03 inches. Samsung specifies the Fold7’s inner panel as Dynamic AMOLED 2X with a 2184 × 1968 resolution and refresh rates up to 120 Hz. The available vivo specification page supplies its 8.03-inch size, while the comparison listing gives the cover display’s resolution.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteOn the outside, the cover panels are also close in diagonal measurement: 6.5 inches for Samsung and 6.53 inches for vivo. Their listed resolutions and formats differ, so diagonal size alone does not tell you which will feel more comfortable for typing, reading, or one-handed use. Neither set of specifications establishes a real-world advantage in brightness, crease visibility, or outdoor readability.
#1 Best Overall
- A premium foldable smartphone featuring an 8.0" Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display, 6.5" cover display, 200MP main camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, 4,400mAh battery, and a slim 215g design.
Battery, charging, and what the numbers mean
The India comparison lists a 4,400 mAh battery for the Fold7 and 6,000 mAh for the X Fold5. That is a substantial capacity difference on paper, but it does not establish how long either phone lasts in everyday use; screen behavior, software, network conditions, and workload also matter. No comparable runtime test is established here.
vivo says the X Fold5 supports charging up to 80W and its Singapore product page says a charger is included in the box. Samsung’s announcement says a 25W power adapter is sold separately. Actual charging depends on the market, included equipment, and conditions, so check the exact regional package before buying.

Cameras and performance: specifications, not test results
The comparison listing describes Samsung’s rear cameras as a 200 MP wide camera, 12 MP ultra-wide, and 10 MP telephoto. It lists three 50 MP rear cameras for the vivo. Those configurations show different approaches, but megapixel counts do not establish which phone takes better photos; no comparable sample analysis or controlled camera test is available here.

The same comparison lists a Snapdragon 8 Elite and 12 GB RAM for Samsung, against a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and 16 GB RAM for vivo. Chip generation and memory capacity are useful reference points, not a substitute for comparable testing of speed, heat, or sustained performance.

Software support and durability
Updates and regional software
Samsung’s announcement specifies Android 16 with One UI 8, and its US support page lists security updates through July 31, 2032. That date applies to the US product page; it should not be assumed to describe every region or support policy. The comparison listing gives Android 15 with OriginOS 5 for vivo. Software versions and update schedules can vary by market and change over time, so confirm the version and support terms for the model sold where you live.
Water and dust resistance
Samsung lists an IP48 rating and explains the conditions used for its test; it also warns that water resistance can diminish over time. vivo lists IP5X, IPX8, and IPX9 tests under IEC 60529 and likewise cautions that resistance may reduce with daily use. These are ratings for specified test conditions, not guarantees against damage, and their different dust-rating notation should not be treated as proof of equivalent protection.

Price difference: an India snapshot, not a current global price
When accessed on October 7, 2026, 91mobiles’ India comparison page displayed ₹154,999 for the Galaxy Z Fold7 and ₹139,999 for the vivo X Fold5—a listed gap of ₹15,000. These are marketplace observations from that page, not official MSRP, a live quote, or prices that apply outside India. Prices, stock, sellers, and configurations can change.
Before comparing local offers, check that both listings refer to the same storage configuration and account for seller, warranty coverage, import status, network-band compatibility, and regional software support. Also verify the box contents: Samsung states its 25W adapter is sold separately, while the consulted vivo Singapore page lists a charger and phone case as included.

Which one should you choose?
Consider the Galaxy Z Fold7 if…
- You want Samsung’s software and ecosystem features, including Samsung DeX support.
- The US-listed security-update commitment through July 31, 2032 applies to the market where you will use the phone.
- You prefer the listed 200 MP main-camera specification, while understanding that it does not prove better image quality.
- Its actual local price, warranty, and support are more compelling than the vivo offer available to you.
Consider the vivo X Fold5 if…
- The listed 6,000 mAh capacity and up-to-80W charging support are more important to you than Samsung’s listed battery capacity.
- Its 16 GB RAM configuration or local price suits your needs, after confirming the exact model and storage option.
- It is officially available and supported in your market, with warranty and network compatibility you can verify.
Neither recommendation is a claim about tested battery life, speed, or camera quality. The available specifications support a conditional choice, not a universal winner.
