Galaxy Z Fold8 screen is frozen or not responding normally
A temporary system issue, outdated software, app compatibility, settings, or physical impact can be associated with abnormal display behavior, according to Samsung’s general Galaxy guidance. Start with a restart, then check for updates and review display settings if the problem continues.

Restart the phone
If the screen still responds enough to use the power menu, hold the side key and volume-down key, then tap Restart. If the menu does not appear, Samsung’s general instructions say to keep holding both keys for more than seven seconds until the phone restarts. Button behavior can differ by device and software; check the current Galaxy Z Fold8 manual if this combination does not work.

- Open Settings > Software update and check for an available system update. The exact label may vary.
- Open Google Play and update installed apps. If the display problem began after using one particular app, check whether that app has an update available.
Samsung’s steps are general troubleshooting, not a diagnosis of the cause. If the screen remains unresponsive or abnormal after these checks, arrange service rather than repeatedly forcing restarts.

Display looks yellow, dim, enlarged, or otherwise unusual
Before assuming the display is damaged, check whether a display setting explains what you see. Samsung identifies these settings as relevant checks; changing one is not a guaranteed fix.
- Warmer or yellow tint: Check whether Eye comfort shield is enabled.
- Text or interface appears too large or small: Review Text size and Screen zoom.
- Dark appearance: Check whether Dark mode is on.
- Brightness changes unexpectedly: Review Adaptive brightness.
- Motion appears different: Check Motion smoothness.
- Image detail or sharpness seems different: Review the display resolution setting, if available on your software version.
Settings paths and available options can differ by model and software version, so use Settings search if a label is not where expected.

Display is visibly damaged after an impact
If the screen has visible impact damage, stop using the phone and have a Samsung service center inspect it. Samsung warns that an externally damaged display may not function normally. Do not press, heat, wet, glue, or disassemble the foldable display; those actions can cause further damage and are not a substitute for inspection.
Samsung’s regional support catalog lists Galaxy Z Fold8 materials, including a repair guide and an English European user manual, version 1.5, listed 21 September 2026. Dark lines or flicker appear while taking photos or videos
Indoor lighting can cause flicker or dark bands in captured images, so their presence does not by itself establish a camera fault. Samsung suggests trying Pro mode and adjusting shutter speed:
- Open Camera and tap More.
- Select Pro.
- Set the shutter speed to 1/120s or lower and check whether the lines or flicker change.

Photos show light streaks or glare
Samsung says lens flare may be more noticeable when the lens is dirty, zoom is high, the scene contains bright light, or you are photographing at night. Clean the camera lens with a soft, clean cloth, try a different angle, reduce zoom, or move away from a strong light source. If streaks persist across different scenes and lighting conditions, seek Samsung support rather than assuming the lens is damaged.
When to contact Samsung service
- Stop using the phone and request an inspection if the display has visible impact damage.
- Arrange diagnosis if the screen remains frozen or abnormal after restarting, updating, and checking relevant settings.
- Seek support for persistent camera artifacts that remain after trying the lighting and lens checks.
