But the available country check did not cover every region, so it does not prove that prices went up everywhere. Here is what is established as of October 2, 2026—and what to check before buying.
How much do Galaxy S26 phones cost in the US?
Samsung’s February 2026 US launch prices were $899.99 for the Galaxy S26, $1,099.99 for the S26+ and $1,299.99 for the S26 Ultra. Samsung named Samsung.com, Amazon Stores, carriers and retailers as preorder channels; general availability began March 11, 2026.
On October 1, 2026, Tom’s Guide reported higher US starting prices for all three main models. Its report also put the 1TB Ultra at $1,999 and said the Galaxy S26 FE remained at $699, unchanged from its launch price. These are reported prices, not a guarantee of what every seller charges today.
| US model | Samsung launch price, February 2026 | Price reported by Tom’s Guide, October 1, 2026 | Reported change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S26 | $899.99 | $999 starting price | $100 higher |
| Galaxy S26+ | $1,099.99 | $1,199 starting price | $100 higher |
| Galaxy S26 Ultra | $1,299.99 | $1,399 starting price | $100 higher |
| Galaxy S26 Ultra, 1TB | Not stated in the cited launch-price information | $1,999 | $200 higher, according to Tom’s Guide |
| Galaxy S26 FE | $699 | $699 | No change reported |
The launch prices and updated figures are not presented in exactly the same format: Samsung’s launch announcement listed prices down to 99 cents, while Tom’s Guide gave the later starting prices in whole dollars. Check the live listing for the price and configuration being offered.

How did the S26 launch compare with the previous generation?
The Associated Press reported that the S26 and S26+ launched $100 above comparable prior-year models, an increase of 10% to 13%. It reported no launch-price increase for the S26 Ultra, which remained at $1,299. The later US prices reported by Tom’s Guide therefore describe a separate change after launch; they should not be confused with the original year-over-year comparison.
Did prices rise in every country?
No country-by-country evidence here establishes a universal increase. GSMArena reported higher prices in the US, Canada, the UK, mainland Europe and India, while explicitly noting that it had not checked every region. The supported conclusion is that price increases were reported across several major markets—not that every country’s price rose.

Local pricing can also depend on the model tier, storage configuration, seller and any trade-in or carrier offer. The available regional report does not provide a complete price list for every country, so check Samsung’s local store and the specific retailer’s listing for your market.
What should you compare before buying?
A headline starting price is not necessarily the amount you will pay. Compare like for like, particularly if you are looking at an Ultra: the 1TB configuration had a larger reported US increase than the Ultra starting price.

- Country and currency: use the price for your local market rather than converting a US figure.
- Model and storage: confirm whether the listing is for the S26, S26+ or Ultra and check its storage capacity.
- Seller: Samsung listed Samsung.com, Amazon Stores, carriers and retailers as launch preorder channels; still verify the live listing’s seller and terms.
- Credits and trade-ins: compare the amount due after any carrier credit, trade-in or other offer, including any conditions attached to it.
- Protection coverage: compare the coverage and eligibility available in your region, rather than treating protection as part of the phone’s price.
Should you buy before the price rises again?
The reported US repricing is a reason to check today’s offer, not proof that another increase is imminent. The available information does not establish when or whether prices will change again. If you are ready to buy, compare the same model and storage across sellers and calculate the final cost after eligible credits. If the deal depends on a trade-in or carrier plan, check its terms before treating the advertised discount as savings.

That depends on whether its specific features matter to you at the price you can actually get. Samsung says the S26 series receives seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. The Ultra adds a built-in Privacy Display and a customized Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy platform. Those are meaningful differentiators to weigh against the higher reported price; they do not make the Ultra the right choice for everyone.
