Samsung’s October 2026 security release combines Google and Samsung fixes, and secondary reporting says builds began reaching some unlocked US Galaxy S26 phones and AT&T models by October 9. That is a partial rollout report, not confirmation for every S26, country, or carrier. Check your phone’s update screen and installed security patch level to see whether it has arrived for your exact device.
What the October 2026 patch addresses
Samsung labels its October package SMR-OCT-2026 and says it includes patches from Google and Samsung. Its published list shows 9 critical, 35 high, and 3 moderate Google CVE entries, as well as four high-severity Samsung Semiconductor CVEs and 27 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items. These are bulletin entries, not a count of newly fixed vulnerabilities that necessarily applies in full to every Galaxy S26: Samsung notes that some entries were included in earlier updates, some do not apply to Samsung devices, and some SVE details are undisclosed. The Android Security Bulletin for October 2026, published October 5 and updated October 8, says: “Security patch levels of 2026-10-01 or higher address all of these issues.” Its most severe listed issue is a critical vulnerability in Android’s System component that could allow local privilege escalation without additional execution privileges or user interaction, under the bulletin’s stated assumptions about platform and service mitigations. This is a description of an Android bulletin issue; it does not establish that a particular S26 variant is affected or that the vulnerability is being exploited.

Samsung’s October service-update listing also describes an input-validation issue in Samsung Internet versions before 30.0.5.24 that could allow remote script injection. That app-version fix should not be taken as evidence that the S26 firmware update has reached a particular model or carrier. See Samsung’s October 2026 service updates.

Has the update reached your Galaxy S26?
Availability depends on the phone’s model, region, carrier, and service version. Samsung says security-patch release timing can vary by device version and model or service version. Secondary reporting dated October 9 described October builds reaching unlocked US S26-series phones and AT&T. Treat that as a report of a partial rollout, not a worldwide availability list: AndroidHIRE’s October 9 report.
Samsung’s update history for the US unlocked SM-S942U1 showed a September 3, 2026 release with security patch level 2026-08-05. That record does not establish the October update’s status for every S26 variant. Verizon’s support page also surfaced a September 2026 patch-level record, another reminder that update records differ across services. Check Samsung’s SM-S942U1 update history or Verizon’s Galaxy S26 update page for the matching service record; neither provides a complete October build matrix for all models and regions.

Check for the update on your phone
- Open Settings on your Galaxy S26.
- Tap Software update, then Download and install.
- If an update is offered, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it.
- After installation, return to Settings and check the displayed Android security patch level. A level of 2026-10-01 or higher corresponds to the October Android bulletin’s stated coverage; the installed level is the practical check, rather than assuming availability from another model’s report.
If no update appears, that does not prove the October patch is unavailable for every Galaxy S26. Confirm your model number, country or carrier, and service provider, then compare the installed patch level with the update record for that exact variant.
