For most Galaxy S25 FE owners, upgrading to the S26 FE is worthwhile only if you will use its newer processor, camera and Galaxy AI tools, or value its newer software-support runway. The display, rear-camera sensor resolutions, typical battery capacity and wired charging are largely unchanged. If your current phone already meets your needs, compare the actual local cost after trade-in before switching.
What changes with the Galaxy S26 FE?
Samsung’s Malaysia comparison guide positions the S26 FE as a generational update centered on a newer processor, software and creative features rather than a wholesale hardware redesign.

Camera and creative tools
The S26 FE adds My FanCam, Super Steady Video with Horizontal Lock, a wider-angle front camera and newer editing features including enhanced Photo Assist and Creative Studio. Samsung also lists 2x optical-quality zoom alongside 3x optical zoom and up to 30x digital zoom. The listed rear-camera sensor resolutions remain the same, so the change is better understood as new capture and editing options—not proof that the rear-camera hardware was replaced or that photos are categorically better.

Size and durability
Samsung lists the S25 FE at 161.3 × 76.6 × 7.4mm and 190g, and the S26 FE at 161.6 × 76.9 × 7.4mm and 193g. Both are listed as IP68-resistant. Because their dimensions differ, check that a case is explicitly made for your exact model rather than assuming accessories will fit both.
Will the S26 FE last longer between charges?
Samsung lists a 4,900mAh typical battery and 45W wired charging for both phones. Its comparison estimates up to 28 hours of video playback for the S25 FE and up to 29 hours for the S26 FE. Those are manufacturer estimates, not results from a controlled independent battery test; they do not establish that every S26 FE owner will gain an hour in everyday use.

How much longer is S26 FE software support?
Samsung says the S26 FE is eligible for up to seven generations of OS upgrades and up to seven years of security updates. The exact support wording and dates can vary by regional listing. For example, Samsung Germany Business lists security updates valid through 30 September 2033 for its S26 FE listing, while Samsung Latin America lists 30 September 2032 for its S25 FE listing. Treat those as dates tied to those regional product pages, not worldwide end-date guarantees.

Should you upgrade from the S25 FE?
Keep your S25 FE if it still does the job
If you are happy with its display, camera results, performance and battery life, the shared core specifications make the S26 FE a nonessential upgrade. Samsung itself describes the S25 FE as a capable choice when its camera, display, performance and Galaxy AI features meet your needs. Save the cost unless the new features or support horizon solve a specific problem for you.
Consider upgrading if you will use the new features
The S26 FE makes more sense if you frequently film moving subjects and want Horizontal Lock, use Samsung’s newer editing tools, want the newer processor for your workload, or place real value on the stated software-support runway. The available comparison does not quantify how much faster the processor is, so base that decision on your own needs rather than an assumed performance percentage.

Choosing between them as a new buyer
Compare the two phones at the same storage capacity, in the same condition, with comparable warranty coverage and offers. Samsung’s guide presents the S26 FE as the more complete option for buyers who prioritize its processor, software and creative tools, while a sufficiently lower S25 FE price may make that model better value. There is no evidence-based universal price gap at which one becomes the better buy.

Check the price for your market before deciding
Samsung US displayed the unlocked S26 FE at $699.99 for 128GB and $799.99 for 256GB on its US sales listing when accessed in 2026. Those are regional listing snapshots, not global prices or a like-for-like comparison with the S25 FE. Samsung Latin America lists an S25 FE configuration with 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage, illustrating why regional configurations can differ.

Bottom line for S25 FE owners
The S26 FE brings a newer processor, newer software and useful additions for video and creative editing, but Samsung’s listed display, rear-camera resolutions, battery capacity and charging speed remain broadly the same. Upgrade when those new features or the support runway justify your local net cost. Otherwise, keeping a functioning S25 FE is a sensible choice.
