The Galaxy S25+ is a conventional 6.7-inch phone; the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra opens to an 8-inch inner display and also has a 6.5-inch cover screen. The Fold’s larger workspace comes at a substantial premium in the cited US price snapshot: its reported 256GB launch price was $2,099.99, compared with $999.99 listed for the S25+ 256GB on Samsung’s US purchase page. Those figures imply a $1,100 difference, but they come from different sources and price contexts—not a like-for-like live checkout comparison.
At a glance: a standard phone or a foldable workspace
The S25+ keeps the familiar slab-phone design, with one 6.7-inch display. The Z Fold8 Ultra is a foldable: use its 6.5-inch cover screen when closed, or open it for an 8-inch inner display. Samsung describes the larger Fold screen as supporting multitasking; screen size alone does not establish comfort, image quality, or how well a particular app uses the space.

That form-factor choice is the main practical distinction. Consider the Fold if you expect to use its expanded screen for tasks that benefit from a larger workspace. The S25+ is the more straightforward fit if you prefer a conventional phone. Neither choice is a universal winner.

Processor, cameras, battery and support
| Specification | Galaxy S25+ | Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy |
| Rear cameras | 50MP wide with OIS, 12MP ultra-wide, 10MP telephoto with OIS | 200MP main, with HDR support in 200MP mode; 50MP ultra-wide |
| RAM and storage | 12GB RAM; 256GB or 512GB storage listed in the cited sheet | Configurations are listed in Fold8 Ultra materials, but the cited official page does not establish every regional SKU |
| Battery and charging | 4,900mAh; charging rate not stated in the cited comparison materials | 5,000mAh; 45W fast charging |
| Published software-support term | Samsung’s cited S25-series sheet states seven years of OS and security updates | A comparable update-duration promise is not established in the cited Fold8 Ultra materials |
Camera specifications are not a photo-quality verdict
The hardware differs: the S25+ has a dedicated telephoto camera as well as wide and ultra-wide cameras; the Fold8 Ultra specifications cite a 200MP main camera and a 50MP ultra-wide. Megapixel counts and component lists do not establish which phone takes better pictures. No controlled camera comparison is available here.
Battery capacity is not battery life
The listed capacities are 4,900mAh for the S25+ and 5,000mAh for the Fold8 Ultra. That small nominal difference does not show which phone lasts longer in use. A meaningful endurance comparison would require comparable testing; no such runtime result is established here.

Software support is not established on equal terms
Samsung’s cited S25-series specification sheet states seven years of OS and security updates. The cited Fold8 Ultra announcement and specification materials do not establish the same duration for that model, so an equal-term comparison cannot be made from these sources.

These are US figures with different source contexts, not a confirmed same-day comparison of checkout prices. Regional prices, promotions, trade-ins, retailer offers, and matching storage availability can change the result. For a current decision, compare the same country, storage capacity, and purchase channel; verify the Fold8 Ultra’s regional configuration before treating the prices as directly equivalent.
Which model fits your priorities?
- Choose the S25+ if: you want a conventional phone, its 6.7-inch display suits your needs, or the cited price band is a better fit for your budget.
- Consider the Fold8 Ultra if: you expect to use the 8-inch inner screen and its foldable format is worth the higher cited launch price to you.
- Compare camera performance cautiously: the listed camera hardware is different, but the specifications do not establish which produces better photos.
- Prioritize battery runtime or long-term updates: do not infer endurance from capacity or assume equal support terms; the cited materials do not establish those comparisons.
What Samsung’s preorder figure does—and does not—say
Samsung said pre-orders for its new Galaxy Z lineup increased by more than 30% compared with the previous generation. That is Samsung’s company-reported comparison, not an independently validated market statistic, and it does not by itself establish that the Fold8 Ultra is a better fit for an individual buyer. Samsung’s July 2026 announcement also quoted TM Roh, the company’s CEO, President and Head of the Device eXperience Division, saying: “As AI becomes more agentic, mobile devices will become the most personal entry point to experiences that understand and adapt to each user.”
