Galaxy S25+ vs Galaxy A57: What the $450 US Launch Gap Buys

Samsung’s US launch-era references put the Galaxy A57 at $549.99 and the 256 GB Galaxy S25+ at $999.99. Here’s what that historical gap and the published specifications do—and don’t—tell you.

The Galaxy A57 5G is Samsung’s lower-priced A-series option; the Galaxy S25+ is the higher-tier S-series phone. At their US launch-era reference prices, the A57 started at $549.99 and the S25+ 256 GB had a $999.99 MSRP—a $450 difference. Those figures are not current-price quotes, and the comparison is not storage-matched.

How much more did the Galaxy S25+ cost?

Samsung announced a US starting price of $549.99 for the Galaxy A57 5G, with availability beginning April 9, 2026. Samsung’s US price file, effective March 2025, lists the 256 GB Galaxy S25+ at $999.99. The resulting $450 gap compares those specific US launch-era reference points; it does not establish today’s price difference. Samsung’s A57 announcement and Samsung’s S25+ price file are the relevant manufacturer references.

What the A57 specifications tell you

Samsung lists the Galaxy A57 with a 6.7-inch FHD+ (1080 × 2340) Super AMOLED Plus display and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Its rear cameras are a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 12 MP ultrawide, and a 5 MP macro; the front camera is 12 MP. Samsung also lists a typical 5,000 mAh battery and 45 W wired charging in regional materials. Samsung’s A57 specifications

These figures describe the A57’s published hardware, not how it performs against the S25+ in everyday use. Megapixel counts alone do not establish photo quality, and battery capacity or charging wattage does not establish endurance or real-world charging time. The available manufacturer specifications do not provide a comparable camera shootout, benchmark, or standardized battery test.

What is established about the S25+ comparison?

Samsung’s S25 series materials include model-specific specifications for the S25+, but the cited comparison material does not establish every corresponding S25+ value in a directly comparable form. It therefore supports the distinction between Samsung’s higher-tier S-series model and the A-series A57, and the S25+’s 256 GB US MSRP, but not a complete spec-by-spec verdict on display, cameras, or performance. For charging, Samsung’s S25 series materials recommend an original Samsung 45 W adapter and data cable for the S25+. That recommendation is not a battery-life comparison. Package contents can differ by region, so check the exact regional SKU before assuming an adapter is included or must be purchased.

How long will each phone receive software support?

Samsung’s US A57 page promises six OS upgrades and six years of security updates. That is the stated support policy; it does not mean every update arrives immediately or on the same schedule in every market. A directly comparable S25+ support duration is not established by the cited model-specific materials here, so the A57’s published commitment should not be treated as proof that it will receive longer support.

Which one should you choose?

  • Consider the A57 if its lower US launch reference price and listed display, camera setup, battery capacity, and support commitment meet your needs. Verify the live price and the exact regional model before buying.
  • Consider the S25+ if you are shopping for Samsung’s higher-tier S-series model and are willing to pay more at the cited US MSRP reference. Check current pricing and the exact configuration rather than assuming the historical $450 gap still applies.

These phones occupy different product tiers, so the useful question is whether the S25+’s higher-tier positioning is worth its current premium for you—not which one wins a like-for-like performance test. The published specifications and historical price references alone cannot establish that value.
