The Galaxy S24 5G is the better fit if you want a compact phone, a dedicated 3x optical zoom camera and wireless charging. The Galaxy A57 5G gives you a larger 6.7-inch screen and a higher stated battery capacity. There is no dependable universal price gap: the figures available are from different markets and sources, so compare the same storage, condition and seller in your country before deciding.
Galaxy S24 vs Galaxy A57: key specs
| Specification | Galaxy S24 5G | Galaxy A57 5G | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Display | 6.2-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, adaptive 1–120Hz | 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED+, up to 120Hz | The S24 is the smaller option; the A57 offers more screen area. Samsung’s measurements account for rounded corners and camera cutouts. |
| Rear cameras | 50MP wide with OIS, 12MP ultrawide, 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom | 50MP wide, 12MP ultrawide, 5MP macro | The S24 has a dedicated optical zoom camera; the A57 has a macro camera. The specifications alone do not establish which takes better photos. |
| Front camera | 12MP | 12MP | Equal stated resolution does not prove equal image quality. |
| Typical battery capacity | 4,000mAh | 5,000mAh | The A57 has greater stated capacity, but capacity alone does not predict runtime. |
| Charging | 25W wired charging; Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 and Wireless PowerShare | Super Fast Charging 2.0; Samsung claims up to 60% in around 30 minutes | Wireless charging is a distinguishing S24 feature; the A57’s published charging claim is for wired charging. |
| Software support | Seven-year OS and security commitment for the S24 generation, as announced at launch | Up to six Android OS/One UI generations and up to six years of security updates | These are stated support commitments, not a verified calendar end date for each device. |
| Water and dust resistance | IP68 | IP68 | These ratings are based on lab conditions, not a guarantee against all water or dust damage. |
Which phone should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy S24 5G if you value compact size and zoom
- Its 6.2-inch display makes it the smaller choice compared with the A57’s 6.7-inch screen.
- The dedicated 10MP telephoto camera provides 3x optical zoom, rather than relying on the main camera’s stated megapixels.
- It supports wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare, features not listed for the A57 in the cited specifications.
- Samsung announced a seven-year OS and security support commitment for the S24 generation. The cited launch announcement does not establish an exact calendar end date for this model.
Choose the Galaxy A57 5G if you want more screen and battery capacity
- The 6.7-inch display gives you more viewing area for video, reading and other screen-focused use.
- Its 5,000mAh typical battery capacity is larger than the S24’s 4,000mAh typical capacity.
- It includes a 5MP macro camera for close-up photography, while the S24’s third rear camera is a 3x optical telephoto.
- Samsung states support of up to six Android OS/One UI generations and up to six years of security updates.
How do the cameras compare?
The main-camera resolution is 50MP on both phones, and each also has a 12MP ultrawide. Their third rear cameras serve different purposes: the S24’s 10MP telephoto offers 3x optical zoom, while the A57’s 5MP camera is for macro shots. Choose based on whether distant subjects or close-up subjects matter more to you. These specifications do not establish comparative photo quality; the cited sources do not provide a controlled head-to-head camera test.

Battery life and charging
Samsung lists typical battery capacities of 4,000mAh for the S24 and 5,000mAh for the A57. Capacity is not a direct measure of how long either phone will last: usage, settings and other conditions affect runtime. Samsung says the A57 can support up to two days of use under its stated conditions. TechRadar’s review describes roughly a day and a half with average use; that is a reviewer observation, not a direct comparison with the S24.
For charging, Samsung says the S24 can reach around 50% in about 30 minutes with a 25W adapter. Its U.S. launch material says the adapter and cable are sold separately and recommends a 25W adapter. The S24 also supports Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 and Wireless PowerShare. Samsung says the A57 supports Super Fast Charging 2.0 and can reach up to 60% in around 30 minutes. These are manufacturer claims, not directly comparable independent charging tests.

- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
Performance, durability and support
Samsung describes the A57 as having upgraded CPU, GPU and NPU performance, but does not publish a directly comparable S24 benchmark in the cited material. TechRadar identifies its A57 review unit as using Exynos 1680 and reports that scrolling and streaming were fine, while demanding games required compromises in its testing. Its 3DMark tests crashed, so those results are not a completed benchmark comparison. This review experience does not establish how the A57 performs against the S24 in a controlled test.
Samsung lists IP68 water and dust resistance for the A57 and announced the same rating for the S24. The S24 launch material identifies Android 14 with One UI 6.1 as its launch software. An IP rating reflects specified lab conditions and should not be treated as a promise that a phone will resist every exposure or remain undamaged.

What is the price difference?
A fair current price difference cannot be established from the available figures because they are not matched offers for the same market and configuration. Samsung’s U.S. announcement set the A57 launch starting price at $549.99, with U.S. availability from April 9, 2026. That is a launch starting price, not a verified current offer or a comparable S24 price.

For India, 91mobiles displayed Amazon listing snapshots of ₹64,990 for the S24 and ₹56,999 for the A57 when accessed in October 2026. Those volatile marketplace figures are not official list prices or prices that apply to every buyer. They do not establish a universal saving or a matched comparison by storage and seller.

TechRadar’s launch review reported regional A57 launch prices and configurations: U.S. $549 for 8GB/128GB and $609 for 8GB/256GB; UK £529 for 8GB/256GB and £699 for 12GB/512GB; Australia AU$749 for 8GB/128GB and AU$849 for 8GB/256GB. These are secondary-source launch figures, not current offers. Samsung Global said the A57 would be available from April 10, 2026, in select markets; regional availability and storage configurations differ.
For a useful decision, compare unlocked or carrier models on the same date, in the same country, with the same storage, condition and seller. Check the current S24 price locally too; a launch price for the A57 cannot tell you which phone is better value today.
