To customize a Samsung Galaxy S22 lock screen, open Settings > Wallpaper and style, tap the lock-screen preview, and make your changes in the editor. You can adjust or hide the clock, choose shortcut apps, and add supported widgets. The available labels and features can differ by software version.
Open the Galaxy S22 lock-screen editor
- Open Settings.
- Tap Wallpaper and style.
- Tap the preview of your current lock screen to open its editor.
The wording may vary on your installed software. Samsung’s overview describes the lock-screen editor as a place to adjust elements including wallpaper, the clock, widgets and notifications: Samsung Ireland’s lock-screen feature overview.

Change the clock’s style, size or position
- In the lock-screen editor, tap Clock.
- Choose a clock style and adjust its position or size. To remove it from the lock screen, select the hide option if it appears.
- Tap outside the clock controls to save the change.
These clock controls are documented for the Galaxy S22 in AT&T’s S22 guide to customizing the clock and shortcuts. If an option is missing, use the controls shown on your software version rather than assuming every S22 has identical menus.

Choose lock-screen shortcut apps
- In the lock-screen editor, tap the shortcut position you want to change.
- Select the app you want displayed there.
- Tap Done to apply the shortcut change.

Add widgets to the lock screen
- Go to Settings > Wallpaper and style, then select the current lock-screen preview.
- Tap Add widgets.
- Select a widget and choose a style if prompted.
- Tap Done.
Samsung’s guide calls these Brief widgets. The supported apps may be added, removed or updated over time, so the choices shown on your phone may differ from those in Samsung’s guide: Samsung UK’s Brief widget instructions, updated 19 March 2026.

Not every lock-screen feature is available on every S22 software build. For example, Samsung’s US widget support page says the option to show lock-screen wallpaper on Always On Display is available only on devices running One UI 7.0 or higher: Samsung US: Add, customize, and use widgets on Galaxy phones. This is a version requirement for that particular option, not a complete feature list for every S22 region, carrier or One UI release.
