1. Confirm mobile data is enabled
Turn Wi-Fi off to reproduce the problem, then check the cellular-data setting. Open Quick Settings and make sure Mobile data is on, or go to Settings > Connections > Data usage and enable it there. Also make sure Airplane mode is off; it disables network connections.

2. Restart the phone and test again
If mobile data is on but the phone still has no internet, force restart it. Samsung’s UK guide describes holding Volume down and the Side key together. The buttons and procedure can vary by model, so use the instructions for your device if that combination does not apply. After the phone restarts, turn Wi-Fi off and test mobile data.
Samsung recommends testing after each troubleshooting step. That makes it easier to identify what changed, rather than combining several resets and settings changes at once. See Samsung’s mobile data troubleshooting guide.

It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).

3. Check whether all apps are affected
If some apps work on mobile data and others do not, the cellular connection may be working while an app or data-use setting blocks particular traffic. Open Settings > Connections > Data usage and review these controls:
- Data Saver: Samsung says this can limit background data for some apps.
- Allowed networks or app-specific network access: Check whether the affected app is restricted from using mobile data.
- Data limit: A configured limit can stop or restrict data use when it is reached.
Labels and available controls vary. Samsung explains these options in its guides to managing data usage and Galaxy connection options. If no apps can connect, continue to the network checks below.

4. Reset the APN to its defaults if needed
An Access Point Name (APN) tells the phone how to connect to a carrier’s mobile network. Samsung says incorrect APN settings may prevent a connection. If mobile data still fails, look in your mobile-network settings for the Access Point Names menu and use its option to reset APNs to default, if available.
Do not enter guessed APN values. If restoring the defaults does not work, ask your carrier for the correct settings for your plan and SIM or eSIM. Samsung’s Galaxy network troubleshooting guidance covers APN and network-mode checks.

5. Try another available network mode
A network mode that works in one location or carrier environment may not connect properly in another. If your phone offers a network-mode choice, check the available options in its mobile-network settings and try an alternative. The names and choices depend on the model, carrier, and region; there is no single option to recommend for every Galaxy.
If you are unsure which mode your carrier supports, ask the carrier before making further changes. Samsung discusses network modes in its network troubleshooting guide.

6. Reset network settings only after simpler checks
A network reset may help when mobile data remains unstable, but it also affects connections beyond cellular data. Samsung warns: “Resetting your network will reset your Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other network settings.” You may need to reconnect to Wi-Fi networks and set up other network connections again.
Search Settings for Reset network settings or Reset mobile network settings if the menu path on your phone differs. Samsung’s mobile data guide and US network troubleshooting guide describe reset options.
7. Ask your carrier to check service and account status
If these device checks do not restore mobile data, contact your carrier. A phone’s settings cannot confirm whether service is available at your location or whether the account and SIM are correctly set up. Ask the carrier to check:
- Whether the SIM or eSIM is active and provisioned correctly.
- Whether your plan includes data and has data remaining.
- Whether there is an outage or coverage problem where you are.
Samsung advises contacting the carrier when mobile data problems remain unresolved. It also calls this out if you changed carriers but kept the same phone. If you are outside your carrier’s coverage area, data roaming may permit access, but charges can apply; check with the carrier before enabling it. See Samsung’s mobile data troubleshooting guide and its data-usage guidance.
8. Run Samsung Members diagnostics
If the problem persists, Samsung recommends using Phone diagnostics in the Samsung Members app, if it is installed and the feature is available on your device. Open Samsung Members > Support, start diagnostics, and select Mobile network. If diagnostics do not resolve the issue, contact Samsung Support or your carrier depending on whether the checks point to the phone or the service.
