There is no fair single price difference to calculate from the available figures: Samsung’s cited price is in US dollars, while the Redmi launch prices are for Spain in euros and vary by storage configuration.

The specifications are not fully region-neutral: Xiaomi’s figures come from its Italy product page, and the available configuration and network bands may differ elsewhere. Samsung announced the A56 5G for global availability from March 28, 2025. Samsung’s global announcement and Xiaomi’s Italian specifications are the sources for the listed details.

Which phone has the larger display?
The REDMI Note 17 5G is listed with a 6.99-inch screen, compared with the Galaxy A56 5G’s 6.7-inch screen. Both are specified as FHD+ AMOLED-family displays with refresh rates up to 120 Hz, though Samsung names its panel Super AMOLED. These size and panel labels do not establish which screen looks better in person.

Xiaomi lists a 7,700 mAh typical battery for the REDMI Note 17 5G; Samsung lists 5,000 mAh typical capacity for the Galaxy A56 5G. That is a larger stated capacity for the Redmi, not proof of a particular runtime advantage: battery life also depends on the display, software, signal conditions, workload and other factors. The figures are manufacturer-stated capacities, not independent endurance test results.

The Italy-page Redmi specification lists 45 W turbo charging. Xiaomi says a power adapter is not included in the box for that market and recommends a compatible Xiaomi 45 W adapter supporting PD charging. Check the package contents for the country where you are buying, since they can vary by region.
Camera, durability and software support
Camera hardware
Both phones list a 50 MP main camera. Samsung specifies optical image stabilization on the A56 5G’s main camera; the cited Xiaomi specification lists a 50 MP main camera without that stabilization detail. These hardware descriptions alone do not establish photo or video quality.

Samsung lists an IP67 rating for the Galaxy A56 5G and promises up to six generations of OS upgrades plus six years of security updates. The cited Xiaomi Italy page does not provide comparable durability or software-support information, so the available sources do not support a direct ranking on those points.

What is the price difference?
A direct difference is not established because the figures are from different countries, currencies and price contexts. Samsung’s US newsroom says the Galaxy A56 5G starts at $499.99, with 128 GB and 256 GB variants listed; this is a US availability price statement, not a verified current offer. Samsung’s US announcement provides that price context.

Those are reported Spanish launch prices, not confirmed current retail prices. Cinco Días/Smartlife’s launch report covers the Spain figures. To compare what you would actually pay, match the country, memory configuration, seller, taxes and date, then check current local listings. Do not subtract the US and Spain prices or convert them as if they were like-for-like offers.
Which one should you choose?
- Consider the Redmi if the larger listed screen and typical battery capacity, 45 W charging, or expandable storage are priorities, and its regional version fits your network and budget.
- Consider the Galaxy A56 if its documented IP67 rating, stated update commitment, or optical image stabilization on the main camera matter more to you.
- Compare local prices before deciding. The available price evidence does not provide a current same-market, same-configuration comparison, and launch prices may no longer match retail offers.
These are specification-based trade-offs, not a verdict from hands-on testing. Neither listed battery capacity nor camera resolution alone predicts real-world results.
