The Galaxy A36 5G is the more capable choice on paper, chiefly because it charges faster, adds stereo speakers and has a higher-resolution macro camera. But the phones share their screen, main camera, battery capacity, water-resistance rating and advertised software support. Samsung’s March 2026 US list prices put the unlocked 128GB A36 $100 above the equivalent A26; both listings are marked end-of-life, so that is a dated benchmark, not a current offer.

How much more does the A36 cost?
For unlocked 128GB phones in Samsung Electronics America’s March 2026 list, the A36’s $399.99 MSRP is $100 higher than the A26’s $299.99 MSRP. Both entries are marked EOL, and the list does not establish live stock or what a retailer currently charges.

What does the A36 improve in everyday use?
Charging
The A36 supports 45W charging, which is its clearest practical advantage for people who often top up between activities. Samsung’s launch announcement does not claim 45W support for the A26. The evidence here does not establish an A26 charging rate or a measured difference in charging time, so do not translate the wattage distinction into a specific time saved.
Speakers
Samsung’s launch release identifies new stereo speakers on the A36. That gives it a hardware advantage for listening without headphones; the same release does not identify stereo speakers as an A26 feature.
Macro camera
The A36’s macro camera is 5MP, compared with 2MP on the A26. Both phones also have a 50MP stabilized main camera and an 8MP ultrawide. A higher megapixel count alone does not prove better real-world photos, and no comparative image testing is established here.

Front camera
The A26 has a 13MP front camera, while the A36 has a 12MP unit. Samsung specifically lists 10-bit HDR front-camera recording for the A36. Megapixels alone do not establish which phone takes better selfies, and Samsung’s feature claim is not an independent image-quality test.
Where are the phones essentially alike?
Screen and build protection
Both use a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a refresh rate up to 120Hz. Samsung also lists Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and rear of each, alongside IP67 resistance. Samsung’s water-resistance note concerns controlled freshwater submersion and cautions against beach or pool use; the rating should not be read as a recommendation to expose either phone to those conditions.
Battery capacity and playback claims
Each phone has a 5,000mAh typical-capacity battery. Samsung notes a 4,905mAh rated minimum and says actual battery life varies with network, usage and other factors. Samsung Ireland’s regional comparison gives video-playback estimates of up to 29 hours for the A36 and up to 17 hours for the A26. Those are manufacturer figures, not independently measured results, and should not be treated as a guaranteed runtime. Samsung Ireland’s comparison publishes those estimates.

Software support
Both launched with Android 15 and One UI 7. Samsung announced up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and six years of security updates for the devices. The commitment is the same for both models, so it does not by itself justify paying more for the A36.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →What about processor performance?
Samsung’s launch announcement names Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 for the A36. Samsung Ireland’s comparison table has an inconsistent chipset row, so it is not a reliable basis for assigning a processor to either model. The A26 chipset is not confidently established by the primary sources cited here. No independent performance tests are available in this comparison, so a specific speed or gaming advantage cannot be quantified.
Quick Recap
Which one should you choose?
- Choose the A36 if 45W charging, stereo speakers or the higher-resolution macro camera matter to you, and the actual local price premium is acceptable. It is also the only one of the two for which Samsung names a chipset in the launch announcement.
- Choose the A26 if you want the shared large AMOLED display, stabilized 50MP main camera, 5,000mAh typical battery, IP67 rating and announced update support at a lower local price, and can do without the A36’s listed extras.
- Compare current offers before deciding: Samsung’s US list prices are dated March 2026 benchmarks for unlocked 128GB models, not verified sale prices, and both entries are marked EOL.
