Galaxy A35 vs A56: Is the Newer Model Worth $100 More?

The Galaxy A56 is newer and has a slightly larger listed display, while Samsung’s historical US launch prices put it $100 above the A35. Compare local prices and configurations before choosing.

The Galaxy A56 5G is the newer model, with a slightly larger display and newer-generation features; Samsung’s published specifications do not establish that it is better in every camera or performance scenario. At US launch, the A56 started $100 above the A35, but those are historical prices—not today’s retail offers. Compare current prices for the same storage capacity and condition in your country before deciding whether the A56 is worth a premium.

Galaxy A35 vs A56 at a glance

The figures below come from Samsung announcements and product pages. They are not results from a controlled head-to-head test. Samsung notes that specifications and availability can vary by market, so confirm the local model before buying.

Display sizes are measured diagonally, and rounding conventions can differ. Battery capacity is a typical rating, not a promise of equal runtime. Usage, network conditions, and software affect how long either phone lasts between charges.

What is the price difference?

Samsung’s US launch starting prices were $399.99 for the Galaxy A35 5G in 2024 and $499.99 for the Galaxy A56 5G in 2025—a nominal $100 difference. These dated launch figures do not show current retail prices, carrier promotions, or stock.

  • 25W Samsung Super Fast Charger Included, 6.7" FHD+ Super AMOLED, 120Hz, HDR10+, 1080x2340px, Fingerprint (under display, optical), IP67 dust and water resistance
  • 256GB, 8GB, No SD Card Slot, Exynos 1580 (4nm), Octa-core, Xclipse 540 GPU, Android 15, up to 6 major Android upgrades, One UI 7

To judge the actual price gap, compare phones in the same country, with the same storage capacity and similar condition—new against new, for example. A discounted A56 may narrow the gap, while an A35 deal may widen it. The launch-price difference alone cannot establish which is the better value today.

Where the specifications differ

Display: a modest size increase

Samsung lists the A35 with a 6.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Samsung’s US A56 product page lists a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display. The listed diagonal difference is small; it may matter if you prefer more screen area, but it does not by itself establish a difference in brightness, color accuracy, or outdoor readability.

Cameras: compare the features you use

Samsung specifies a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 5MP macro camera for the A35. Its A56 launch announcement describes upgraded camera capabilities and AI editing features, but the cited material does not provide a directly comparable set of camera test results. Megapixel counts alone do not determine image quality.

  • International Model – Global Connectivity – Plug & Play with an active SIM on AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and most U.S. carriers. New activations are supported on T-Mobile and Its MVNO's in the U.S., as some carriers may not recognize International IMEI's as Compatible. If camera choice is important, check samples and independent testing for the exact regional models, especially for low-light photos, ultra-wide shots, and selfies. The available manufacturer specifications are not enough to declare an overall camera winner.

Battery: equal typical capacity, not guaranteed runtime

Samsung lists a typical 5,000mAh capacity for both phones. That matched figure does not mean they will deliver identical battery life: display use, mobile signal, apps, and software all affect runtime. Do not treat capacity as a substitute for comparable endurance testing.

Storage and regional configurations

The cited launch materials list 128GB and 256GB configurations, but A35 options vary by market, and the A56 figures refer to its US launch announcement. Before purchasing, verify the exact local model’s memory, storage, network bands, carrier compatibility, and price. A listing for the same phone name may not represent the same configuration in every country.

Software and performance

Samsung’s 2024 US A35 announcement identifies Android 14 and One UI 6.1 at launch. The cited A56 materials establish its newer generation and describe newer features, but do not provide a like-for-like current software-support comparison for every region. Check Samsung’s support information for the specific regional model if update duration matters to you.

Which one should you choose?

  • Consider the A35 if it is meaningfully less expensive at the same storage and condition, its 6.6-inch display suits you, and its listed camera setup meets your needs.
  • Consider the A56 if its 6.7-inch screen, newer-generation features, or available local configuration matter enough to justify its current price to you.
  • Compare further before choosing if camera quality, gaming performance, battery endurance, or software-support length is decisive. The cited Samsung specifications alone do not settle those head-to-head questions.

These are decision criteria, not a universal winner: the A56’s $100 higher US launch starting price does not tell you whether its current local premium is worthwhile.
