Japan’s au version, model SCG08, is a documented exception: au specifies IPX5/IPX8-equivalent resistance, subject to important conditions. Which Galaxy A32 5G do you have?
The name “Galaxy A32 5G” covers different regional and carrier models, and one variant’s rating cannot be applied to another.

Samsung’s general guidance says ratings vary by model and advises checking the manual when a phone is not included in its listed models. Its U.S. and international support materials do not establish an IP rating for the standard A32 5G variants discussed above; that is not proof that every A32 5G sold in every market has no resistance. What the au SCG08 rating means—and does not mean
For the Japanese au SCG08 only, the manual describes protection equivalent to IPX5/IPX8. The SIM/microSD tray must be fully installed for that stated protection. au cautions that protection is not guaranteed in every usage situation, and water-related damage may fall outside warranty coverage. au SCG08 online manual

Samsung also notes that water resistance can weaken with normal wear over time. A published rating is not a promise that a phone will remain protected in every circumstance or after damage and aging. Samsung Canada water- and dust-resistance guidance
Can you use an A32 5G in the rain or near water?
If you have a standard U.S. or international A32 5G, the cited support materials do not establish a water-resistance rating. Treat it as unprotected: avoid intentional exposure to rain, spills, or immersion, and do not use the SCG08 rating as reassurance. If you have the au SCG08, follow its manual’s conditions, but do not treat the rating as a guarantee against water damage.

Do not deliberately submerge the phone to test it. If it gets wet, do not charge it while wet; consult the instructions for your exact model before connecting charging equipment. au’s safety guidance specifically warns against charging the SCG08 while wet. au SCG08 safety guidance

How to check the rating for your phone
- Find the model number in the phone’s settings or on its packaging, then distinguish the full model code from the general “A32 5G” name.
- Open the manufacturer or carrier support page for that exact model and consult its user manual. Samsung’s guidance recommends the manual when the model is not on its water-resistance list. Samsung Canada guidance
- Look for an explicit IP rating and any conditions attached to it, such as a fully closed tray. Check the relevant warranty terms separately; a rating does not establish that liquid damage is covered.
