The TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G has the stronger paper specs for display refresh rate, battery capacity and charging speed; the Samsung Galaxy A27 5G stands out for its stated software-support period. Neither is a proven performance or camera winner without comparable testing, and the available prices come from different countries, so they do not establish a direct price difference.

Which screen is better on paper?
The POVA 8 Pro 5G has the larger listed screen by 0.08 inches, a stated resolution of 2644 × 1208, and a selectable refresh rate up to 144Hz. The Galaxy A27 5G is listed with a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display and up to 120Hz. Those figures favor TECNO for screen size and maximum refresh rate, but they do not establish which panel has more accurate color, better outdoor readability or superior overall image quality.
Performance: chipset names are not a verdict
Samsung lists a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 built on a 4nm process; TECNO lists a 4nm Dimensity 7400 Ultimate 5G and its P1 graphics chip. The specifications alone cannot establish which phone feels faster, sustains performance better under load or handles a particular game more smoothly. No comparable benchmark or independent performance test is established here.

TECNO advertises gaming at up to 144 FPS, but its product page says the PUBG MOBILE Ultra Extreme 144 FPS option was expected through a future major game update by October 2026, with availability dependent on the official game update. It also describes frame generation. That is not confirmation of a native 144 FPS mode that is available to every buyer. Check the current game version, supported device list and local rollout before treating that feature as a deciding factor. TECNO’s product page gives the qualification.
RAM, storage and expansion
The Galaxy A27 5G’s configurations differ by market: Samsung lists 6GB RAM with 128GB storage in the U.S., and 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB options in India. Its U.S. specification table lists microSD support up to 2TB, useful if removable storage matters to you. Confirm the storage-expansion specification for the exact regional model you are buying.

TECNO lists POVA variants with 8GB or 12GB physical RAM and 256GB storage, plus a 12GB/512GB option. Marketing figures of 16GB or 24GB RAM include extended, virtual RAM; they are not equivalent to that amount of physical memory. Compare the physical RAM and built-in storage of the actual local SKU, rather than the headline combined-memory figure.

Samsung lists a 50MP OIS main camera, 5MP ultrawide, 2MP macro and 12MP front camera. TECNO lists a 50MP OIS main camera, 8MP ultrawide and 13MP front camera. The listed hardware gives the POVA a higher-resolution ultrawide and front-camera sensor on paper, while Samsung includes a dedicated macro camera. Megapixel counts and camera-module lists cannot show which phone produces better photos, video or low-light results; no comparable image testing is established here.

Battery capacity and charging ratings
TECNO lists a 6,500mAh battery and 45W charging, compared with Samsung’s typical 5,000mAh battery and 25W charging. These ratings give the POVA the larger stated capacity and higher charging power, but they do not establish real-world battery life or time to recharge. Those outcomes depend on usage, software, network conditions and charging conditions; no directly comparable runtime or charge-time test is available here.
Software support: Samsung states a duration
Samsung says the Galaxy A27 5G will receive up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and up to six years of security updates, counted from the initial global launch date. Samsung describes this as a commitment to long-term support in its global announcement. “Up to” is part of the commitment; the six-year security period is not a promise that begins on each buyer’s purchase date.

TECNO’s specifications list HiOS 16 based on Android 16, but do not state an update-duration commitment equivalent to Samsung’s. That absence on the cited page does not prove TECNO will provide no updates; it means the two manufacturers’ published information here is not an equal, stated-duration promise.
Durability and connectivity
Samsung’s U.S. specification table lists IP64 protection and Knox Vault. TECNO lists IP69K/69/68/66 ratings on its product page and Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC and an under-display fingerprint sensor on its specifications page. These ratings use different test conditions, so they should not be treated as a simple durability ranking or a guarantee that either phone is indestructible. Check local network-band support, warranty terms and the exact regional model before purchase; the cited specifications do not establish that every version supports the same bands in every country.

Because these figures are in different currencies and markets—and do not pair the same storage configuration in one country—they cannot be subtracted to produce a meaningful price difference. For a local comparison, check current listings for both phones in your country, match storage capacity, and verify seller, warranty and any temporary promotion.
Quick Recap
Which one should you choose?
- Choose the Galaxy A27 5G if Samsung’s stated software-support duration, microSD expansion on the listed U.S. model, or its particular feature set matters more to you than a higher refresh-rate ceiling or larger stated battery.
- Choose the TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G if you prioritize the larger, higher-refresh-rate display and higher stated battery capacity and charging power, and the local model’s bands, warranty and software-support details meet your needs.
- Wait for comparable testing if your decision depends mainly on gaming performance, camera quality, real-world battery life or charge time. The published specifications do not settle those questions.
