Both have a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen and a listed 5,000mAh battery. Samsung’s cited U.S. reference prices differ by $350, but they come from separate announcements and are not a verified current price comparison.

What does the A57’s higher price buy?
A smoother-rated screen
The A57’s 120Hz refresh rate is higher than the A17’s 90Hz. A higher refresh rate can make scrolling and supported animations appear smoother, but it does not by itself establish better color, clarity, or overall image quality. Both are listed with the same 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen, so size and panel type are not the differentiators in these specifications.
Faster rated charging, not a larger battery
Samsung lists 45W charging for the A57 and 25W for the A17, while giving both a 5,000mAh battery. The wattage ratings indicate a difference in supported charging speed, not a guaranteed charging time: actual results depend on factors such as the charger, conditions, and usage. The listed battery capacities do not establish which phone lasts longer in everyday use.

Different rear-camera hardware
Both phones have a 50MP main camera with OIS, but the listed ultrawide and macro resolutions are higher on the A57. Megapixel counts alone cannot show which phone takes better photos. The available specifications do not include controlled, comparable camera testing.
A higher stated water-resistance rating
Samsung’s U.K. announcement gives the A57 an IP68 rating, while its A17 announcement lists IP54 and Gorilla Glass Victus on the front. These ratings describe different levels of protection under defined conditions; neither is a promise that a phone will survive every spill, immersion, or impact. Check the warranty terms for the exact regional model rather than treating a rating as damage coverage.

Choose the Galaxy A17 5G if
- Keeping the purchase price down matters more than having the higher refresh rate or charging rating.
- You want the documented option to expand storage with a microSD card, subject to the exact regional model and card compatibility.
- The A17’s 90Hz display and 25W charging ratings meet your needs.
Choose the Galaxy A57 5G if
- You value a 120Hz display and 45W charging more than minimizing the initial cost.
- The higher stated IP rating matters to you, while recognizing that it is not a guarantee against damage.
- You prefer its listed ultrawide and macro camera resolutions, without assuming megapixels alone predict photo quality.
Before buying, check the exact model sold in your country, its storage configuration, current price, warranty, and network compatibility. The cited sources do not confirm microSD support for the A57, so verify that detail against the specific A57 model if expandable storage is important.
