Samsung’s March 2026 MSRP list puts its unlocked 128GB model at $199.99, versus $169.99 for the unlocked 64GB Galaxy A15 5G, which Samsung marks end-of-life. That is a $30 difference, but not a like-for-like storage comparison—and the A15 may be harder to find at its listed price.

How much more does the A17 5G cost?
Samsung Electronics America’s list effective March 2026 sets the unlocked 128GB Galaxy A17 5G (SKU SM-A176UZKAXAA) at $199.99 MSRP. The same list sets the unlocked 64GB Galaxy A15 5G (SKU SM-A156UZKHXAA) at $169.99 MSRP and marks the A15 entry EOL. The difference is $30, but the A17 listing includes twice the storage. These are manufacturer list prices, not guaranteed current retail prices or evidence that either model is in stock.

Prices depend on market and sales channel. Samsung’s US purchase page lists a Verizon A17 configuration at $249.99 and says the charger is not included; that carrier-specific offer is not the same as the unlocked MSRP. Samsung India’s purchase page displayed ₹26,999 for an A17 6GB/128GB configuration, a separate market and currency. Check the local price, storage, carrier lock and included accessories before comparing offers: Samsung US Verizon purchase page and Samsung India purchase page.
Which display is better?
Both cited models use FHD+ Super AMOLED displays. Samsung’s US A15 sheet lists a 6.5-inch panel. Samsung Mexico’s A17 page describes a 6.7-inch-class panel and specifies a 90Hz refresh rate, which can make scrolling and supported animations look smoother. The cited A15 sheet does not state its refresh rate, so this comparison cannot establish a refresh-rate advantage from that source alone. Because the A17 details come from a regional page, check the specifications of the local SKU.

Do the cameras make the A17 a better choice?
The listed rear-camera resolutions are the same: 50MP main, 5MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro, with a 13MP front camera on each. Samsung’s A17 specification page also lists optical image stabilization (OIS) for its rear camera; the cited A15 sheet does not establish OIS. Stabilization is a meaningful hardware distinction, but matching megapixel counts do not demonstrate equal image quality, and the specifications alone are not a controlled camera test.

The A15 specification sheet gives a clear battery figure—5000mAh with 25W charging. Comparable battery and charging values were not established in the cited official A17 pages, so there is not enough evidence here to name a battery winner.

The listed A17 regional model weighs 192g, compared with 200g for the A15 in Samsung’s US sheet. That is an 8g difference between the cited models; actual regional configurations should be checked. Both support microSD expansion in the cited specifications, but the stated A15 maximum is up to 1TB while the A17 maximum varies by market or model.

Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the A17 5G if the local model and price suit you and you value the listed 128GB US configuration, the regional model’s 90Hz display, or OIS.
- Consider the A15 5G if you find it in stock at a worthwhile price and its 64GB listed configuration meets your needs. Samsung marks that US listing EOL, so availability and actual price may differ from the MSRP.
- Compare exact listings rather than relying on model names alone: match storage, unlocked or carrier status, region, condition and included charger, then compare the final price.
