The customer’s account is striking, especially alongside a $1,199 Amazon listing for the same model reported on September 30, 2026. But it is one reported outcome, not a guarantee for every used or open-box purchase, and the listing price is not what G.SKILL paid for the replacement.
What the buyer says happened
Reddit user Double-South8863 says they bought the G.SKILL kit open-box on eBay for $150 in May 2025. After one stick failed on September 1, 2026, they say they tested the modules separately, tried the failing stick in another PC, and confirmed the other module still worked.
The buyer says they completed G.SKILL’s RMA paperwork on September 8, shipped the kit on September 15, and later received a new package. In a reply, they clarified that they returned both sticks and received a complete replacement kit. TechSpot reported the replacement on September 30, 2026, citing the Reddit post. The buyer summed up the experience with the line, “Customer for life,” and wrote, “I will never buy any RAM other than Gskill for as long as I live.” Those are the customer’s own reactions, not evidence of broader customer sentiment.
Neither the post nor TechSpot’s account establishes what warranty review took place or whether G.SKILL made a company statement about this case. It should be read as a customer-reported resolution.

Which RAM kit was replaced?
G.SKILL’s product page identifies the model as F5-6000J3040G32GX2-TZ5NR, a Trident Z5 Neo RGB kit containing two 32GB DDR5 modules.

The DDR5-6000 profile depends on compatible components and BIOS settings; the product’s default SPD speed is lower. G.SKILL also warns against mixing memory kits. The product page labels the warranty “Limited Lifetime,” but that label alone does not determine whether a particular owner, purchase channel, location, or damaged product qualifies for service.

Why the $150 and $1,199 figures need context
The buyer’s $150 figure is their reported open-box eBay purchase in May 2025, not an average price. TechSpot reported that Amazon listed the same kit for $1,199 on September 30, 2026. That is a dated retailer listing, not a confirmed sale price, manufacturer’s suggested retail price, or valuation of the replacement. The two figures come from different dates and sources, and retailer listings can change.
What G.SKILL’s RMA instructions say
G.SKILL’s public RMA page describes a process rather than an automatic entitlement. It says valid warranty claims should generally go through the original point of purchase during the first 30 days, with variation by retailer and location. If the retailer cannot handle the claim, customers should contact G.SKILL. The company asks users to submit an online RMA request and wait for approval and shipping instructions.

Return every module in the kit
G.SKILL’s policy says: “Include all modules of a memory kit for RMA. Memory kits are tested together to ensure compatibility. Compatibility is not guaranteed if a partial kit is returned.” That matches the buyer’s account of sending both sticks, but does not mean every claim will receive the same decision.
Plan for shipping and processing
The sender is responsible for return shipping and insurance; G.SKILL recommends tracked shipping. The company asks customers to allow at least 7–10 business days for processing and shipping after it receives defective product with a valid RMA number. That allowance does not include outbound shipping time and is not a guarantee of approval or total turnaround time.
