Algorithms help plan where goods should be stored and how work is carried out, while warehouses, equipment, vehicles and people perform the work. The company’s 2025 annual report describes this integration across warehousing, sorting, transportation and delivery; its reported figures are company disclosures, not independent operational audits.
What “from warehouses to algorithms” means
The phrase describes an operating system, not a shift from physical logistics to software alone. A supply chain needs places to hold inventory and routes to move it. Data and algorithms can then help decide where stock belongs, how warehouse tasks are sequenced and how goods progress through fulfillment and delivery.

JD Logistics’ annual reports describe these layers as connected: physical infrastructure provides capacity, planning systems inform operations, and automated equipment supports work at several stages. Software does not replace the network or the people operating it; it coordinates decisions and execution within that network.

JD.com reported more than 1,600 warehouses and more than 34 million square meters of nationwide fulfillment infrastructure as of December 31, 2025. That is a JD.com-wide figure, including space under its Open Warehouse Platform—not a count of warehouses owned by JD Logistics alone. JD.com 2025 Annual Report
#1 Best Overall
JD Logistics separately reported nearly 200 bonded, international direct-distribution and overseas warehouses, with nearly 2 million square meters of aggregate gross floor area, as of December 31, 2025. It reported operations in 25 countries and regions at year end. These overseas figures describe a different scope from JD.com’s nationwide fulfillment infrastructure and should not be added together as though they measure one network. How data and algorithms guide warehouse work
Planning inventory locations
JD Logistics’ 2024 annual-report content describes JD Logistics Super Brain as applying artificial intelligence, big data and operations research to logistics processes. One example is warehouse slot-layout optimization based on sales forecasts: expected demand can inform where goods are positioned, helping shape the work needed to retrieve them. Coordinating execution
Once orders arrive, warehouse systems can direct picking and coordinate people and logistics robots. The report describes system-directed picking supported by robots. That is a specific example of software and equipment working together; it does not establish that every warehouse follows the same configuration or that every task is automated.

The operational point is the connection between forecast and execution: planning can influence placement, while warehouse systems help translate orders into tasks. The reports describe these functions, but do not quantify how much any one algorithm improves productivity or lowers cost.

Automation spans more than the warehouse
JD Logistics says its 2025 technology program integrated equipment and AI across warehousing, sorting, transportation and delivery. The reported examples show automation at different points in the chain rather than a single autonomous warehouse model. JD Logistics 2025 Annual Report
- Goods-to-person warehousing: JD Logistics reported more than 20 LangzuTech warehouses in nearly 20 cities. In a goods-to-person setup, equipment brings items toward workers or workstations, changing how picking is organized.
- Station-to-zone transport: The company reported more than 1,000 unmanned vehicles in regular operations transferring goods between delivery stations and delivery zones. This use case does not mean all last-mile delivery is autonomous.
- Sorting and broader movement: The company describes technology integration in sorting and transportation as part of the same program, though the cited figures do not specify a deployment count for each of those stages.
These are company-reported operational figures. The annual-report descriptions do not independently verify deployment or establish a quantified causal effect on cost, speed or customer outcomes.

How the layers fit together
| Layer | Role in the supply chain | JD Logistics example in the reports |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Provides places and routes for storing, allocating, handling and dispatching goods. | Overseas warehouse footprint and operations in 25 countries and regions at December 31, 2025. |
| Planning | Uses data to inform inventory placement and the organization of work. | Super Brain warehouse slot-layout optimization based on sales forecasts. |
| Execution | Turns orders into storage, picking and sorting tasks. | System-directed picking supported by logistics robots. |
| Movement | Moves goods between facilities, stations and delivery areas. | More than 1,000 unmanned vehicles reported in regular station-to-zone transfer operations. |
The table combines examples reported in different annual-report periods: Super Brain’s described functions come from JD Logistics’ 2024 report content, while the scale and automation figures are from its 2025 report. They illustrate the operating model, not a measured before-and-after performance comparison.
What the reports establish—and what they do not
JD Logistics calls itself “a leading technology-driven supply chain solutions and logistics services provider” in its 2025 annual report. That is the company’s own description. The filings support the narrower conclusion that JD Logistics reports using data systems and automation alongside a large physical network, including examples in warehousing and station-to-zone movement.
The reported counts describe conditions or company-reported operations as of, or during, the year ended December 31, 2025. They should not be treated as live 2026 totals. Nor do the filings, by themselves, prove a particular cost reduction, productivity gain or customer result, or provide a like-for-like basis for ranking JD Logistics against competitors.
