FREELANDER quotes up to 460 kW peak power and 662 N·m peak torque, with 886 km of total combined-cycle range and 110 km of combined-cycle all-electric range. The company notes that specifications vary by trim and market, so these are not universal figures for every Freelander 8.

The launch announcement also promotes a nine-mode intelligent all-terrain system, dual-chamber air suspension with continuously controlled damping, up to 266 mm of ground clearance, 900 mm water-wading depth, and standard L2+ driver assistance. FREELANDER says the Middle East model passed an 800 mm cross-axle test and climbed a 70% grade. These are manufacturer claims, not independent test results. When a conventional hybrid makes sense: Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid
The Santa Fe Hybrid is the clearest option here if you want a three-row hybrid and do not want regular charging to be part of ownership. Hyundai’s 2026 U.S. specification lists 231 combined horsepower and available HTRAC AWD. Fuel economy is EPA-estimated and varies by drivetrain, so compare the figure for the exact configuration rather than treating one number as universal.
It is not established as a size-equivalent substitute for the Freelander 8. Hyundai calls it a compact hybrid SUV, while the Freelander 8’s published dimensions are for its Middle East model. If cabin space or exterior footprint is decisive, compare the exact local trims and dimensions directly.
