A Freedcamp workspace is a separate container owned by one account; its projects use the workspace owner’s plan. To organize work reliably, first confirm the intended workspace and owner, then create projects in the organization’s groups, set access, and review project apps. Freedcamp’s available guidance explains these setup tasks but does not document the current in-product process or eligibility rules for creating a workspace, so don’t mistake project creation for workspace creation.
What a Freedcamp workspace controls
Freedcamp describes a workspace as a separate container belonging to a single owner. It holds its own projects and groups, has a title and logo, and runs on the owner’s plan. Switching to another workspace does not bring your personal plan with you. Freedcamp’s workspace overview explains this ownership model.

The owner or an account administrator controls workspace settings, reached through the cog beside the workspace name in the sidebar. The owner or account administrator can edit the title and logo. Check the workspace name and plan tag before creating organization work so projects are placed under the intended account.

Creating a workspace versus setting one up
Freedcamp’s published guidance does not establish the exact current steps or account eligibility for creating a workspace. Check your account interface for a workspace-creation option or ask Freedcamp support for the current process. The documented project-creation flow below is for adding a project inside an existing workspace; it does not create a workspace.

Set up projects under the organization’s groups
Freedcamp documents project creation from the Homepage, Projects Dashboard, Widgets Board, or Manage System page. The form asks for a project name and description, color, any custom field templates, and a project group. Use the group intended to hold the organization’s work.
For company work, ownership matters as much as the form fields. Freedcamp recommends that the account expected to own the organization’s work create its groups, then assign group administrators to create projects in them. Its guidance warns that projects placed in groups created by other employees may not receive the owner’s subscription features, can be harder to reorganize, and may disappear if that employee deletes their account. The “+” control for a project group creates a group in the user’s personal account, so avoid using it for organizational work unless that is the intended owner.

Choose how group membership should work
Freedcamp offers simple and advanced group access. Pick based on whether everyone in a group should see the same projects or whether access needs to differ by project.

Owners, group administrators, and project administrators can invite users. Freedcamp’s invitation guide describes Guest and Read-Only roles as observation-oriented; User can edit their own items, while Pro User can edit other users’ items. Project and group administrator roles include management permissions. Choose the least broad access that lets each teammate do their work.

Freedcamp’s August 22, 2026 invitation article says invitations on the free plan are limited to 10 until some invitees accept, even while trialing a paid plan. Because limits can change, verify the current interface before planning invitations around this figure.
Delegate administration and review project apps
The workspace owner can make trusted people group administrators. Freedcamp says group administrators can create projects in their groups and manage users and apps there. This can distribute routine setup without changing which account owns the organization’s groups.

New projects have Tasks, Discussions, Calendar, and Files by default unless those apps are removed. You can manage apps and modules at different scopes, but availability depends on permissions and plan requirements. After creating a project, review what the team needs and confirm the relevant administrator rights and plan before changing its apps.

Freedcamp’s All Workspaces view displays projects and groups from every workspace you belong to. Filters and sort order can be saved separately per workspace, so a changed view after switching does not necessarily mean a project is missing. Check the active workspace and its filters when expected work is not visible.
