Clear X media storage or web storage on iPhone and iPad
X for iOS has separate controls for media storage and web storage. Use the one that matches what you want to remove:

- Open X’s profile menu and tap Settings and privacy.
- Tap Accessibility, display, and languages, then Data usage.
- Under Storage, choose Media storage or Web storage.
- For media storage, tap Clear media storage and confirm.
- For web storage, choose Clear web page storage or Clear all web storage, then confirm.
X documents both web-storage choices but does not detail exactly which local data each removes. Don’t assume either choice will preserve a particular login or site setting. X’s iOS instructions list the storage controls.
Clear X’s cache on Android
Android’s system settings may offer a cache-only option. The path and labels vary by phone, but the usual route is:

- Open the phone’s Settings app.
- Open Apps or Applications, then select X.
- Tap Storage or Storage & cache.
- If available, tap Clear cache.
Google says clearing cache removes temporary data; X may take longer to open the next time while it rebuilds what it needs. Menu names vary across Android devices. See Google’s Android guidance.
Clear cache is not the same as clearing app data
Android may also show Clear data or Clear storage. These options are not cache-only cleanup: Google says clearing storage permanently deletes all app data. X’s Android troubleshooting instructions recommend clearing app data as a troubleshooting step and say it resets notification and sync settings. Don’t choose it if your goal is only to clear temporary cache.

Reduce media loading in the future
X’s Data saver mode lowers image quality and prevents videos from autoplaying. Find it in Settings and privacy > General > Data usage in X for Android. It can reduce media loading and data use going forward, but it does not clear storage already accumulated. X describes the setting in its Android app instructions.

How much space will clearing X recover?
The amount depends on the data stored on your device. X and Google do not publish a typical recovery amount, so there is no reliable number of megabytes or gigabytes to expect. Check your phone’s storage settings to see how much space X is using before you clear anything.
