Epic’s official Fortnite listing says, “In Battle Royale, you can only see your team’s Sidekicks.” In practical terms, your teammates may see your Sidekick, but opponents do not see it under this documented Battle Royale rule.

Other Fortnite experiences
Do not assume Battle Royale’s team-only rule applies everywhere. Epic says Sidekick visibility varies in other Fortnite experiences, but does not give a separate visibility rule for each one. Sidekicks may accompany players in Battle Royale, Save the World, Festival, LEGO Fortnite, and developer-made experiences; in developer-made islands, the island’s developer must enable them. Epic Player Support’s experience FAQ specifically says a Sidekick stays backstage in Fortnite Festival.

Do Sidekicks affect gameplay?
No. Epic Player Support says Sidekicks “do not provide any gameplay advantage and don’t take damage.” They can react to the world and players can interact with them using Sidekick Emotes, but Epic describes them as companions rather than gameplay tools. Their visible presence is therefore distinct from an in-game advantage.

What can you customize?
Epic’s October 30, 2025 Sidekicks announcement says names and accessories can be changed, while selected physical traits determine the companion’s appearance going forward. Epic Support explains that eligible appearance customization is a one-time choice: after you lock it in, those appearance choices are permanent. You can own multiple copies with different appearances, but duplicate appearances are not allowed. Check the customization screen carefully before confirming an appearance.

Epic’s official information establishes the team-only visibility rule for Battle Royale and says visibility varies elsewhere. It does not establish whether other players can see your Sidekick in each of Save the World, LEGO Fortnite, or every developer-made experience. For those modes, the answer depends on the experience; developer-made islands also need Sidekick support enabled by their creator.
